Here's the scenario- Live tourney
Final table bubble. There is 1.9 million chips in play.
Tourney pays top 7 though it is likely 8-10 will get some money back in a deal.
Avearge stack is about $175,000.00
Blinds are $8,000-$16,000 with a $2000 ante. Short stack at the table has $53,000 after posting the ante. He moves all in UTG +1.
You have about $200,000.00 in the BB. It folds to you and you look at K10o. The short stack has shown down quality hands or made strong moves to get himself into favorable situations. Do you call? |

| The pot is currently 95k, and BB only needs to call off 37k more. I don't know enough about late-game MTT strategy to say whether the risk is worth it, but the odds are there. With my limited knowledge of MTT strategy, I'd say BB should call. |

I would call.
Folding brings you down to 184k in chips, and calling and losing only brings you down to 147k in chips. Not much difference considering the average stack is 175k. And if you win you move up to around 290k in chips. There are a lot of hands he could have that don't have you in bad shape. Heck, you might even have the best hand, though I wouldn't count on it. |

| Snap call getting 2.5 to 1 and the chance to knockout a player who is desperately short stacked and even though has been showing down good hands is still desperately short stacked and has to push either this hand or next hand. Live tournaments suck sometimes because the blinds get so high so quick everyone is short stacked. |

My thinking is a little different because the blinds were so high. Since each round costs $36,000.00 to play, he's calling off a full round with K 10 off.
Of course I was the shortstack pushing with KQ and lost to the flopped 10. |

| KT made a good call imo. There's no way he can put the short stack on a range tight enough to make it so that he isn't getting the right odds to call (asuming the short stack isn't cluelessly nitty), and the penalty of losing isn't nearly severe enough to pass up on this spot where the odds say to call. |
