Sharkscopes says I'm now officially a fish. That kind of hurts my feelings, but I think I'll get over it. I had a pretty good tournament (9-player SNG) this morning, and there is one early hand I'm kind of proud of. I believe the biggest problem I have with my game is that I get too happy with a good hand preflop and can't lay it down, especially if I've raised the pot. I think I'm getting that under control, though, and I expect to start winning more because of it.

This morning I was dealt 99 under the gun. BB was 40. Since I was UTG, I bet out big, 240, hoping to eliminate all except maybe one caller. Well, one guy raised to 440 and made me start thinking. Then another guy pushed all in with 1180. A couple of weeks ago I would have gotten arrogant and made that call. Today I'm a little smarter and I laid the 9s down. Good thing, because I was third best hand. I would have been done and on to the next tournament. Instead, I patiently waited for my hands and eventually won the the whole thing. I might catch on to this game, yet.

I won the last tournament I played yesterday and the only one I've played today. If I win one more, my form will be "hot" on sharkcopes. Hmm. Hot fish. I could live with that...

Here's the hand:

This might hurt your feelings too, but based on that hand you're so proud of sharkscope is right.

Yeah, huge raises like that are not a good idea. 120 is fine. And I hate to burst your bubble but if you're "proud" of that laydown, it really shows how much of a beginner you are because that is a very easy fold.

I'm not saying you're stupid or anything because everyone has trouble folding a pair when they are new to hold'em. But hopefully you can understand why SharkScope calls you a fish. Maybe buy a book like Ed Miller's "Getting Started In Hold'em" to get you on the right track.

Personally I wish Sharkscope said I was a fish. I'm not great, but I do have a positive ROI, which is more than most at the $2 level can say. Anyway, if sharkscope says your a fish but you arn't (and i'm not saying you arn't...not saying you are either) then your opponents will underestimate you which will give you an edge. The more mis-information out there about me, the better.

all well and good Question Question i think a lot of fish use shark scope
and other programs like it ,a lot of them .

take away that crutch if it has any value and by there own
admission tuey are fishs also

my self i dont want a crytched person messing up a flush draw

or a open ended straight dwaw because of nutty input from a
program that says ill probobly fold on a river bet , especialy if there just drawing them selves most of the time i fid they get irate and start
quoteing stats from the rail when i go all in on them ahd hook up mu
hand

Does sharkscope even track stats like the likelyhood of a fold on the river? If it does I don't know how. I think your thinking of the programs you can download that track actual hand history, which sharkscope doesn't do(as far as i know).

OP, when UTG with Pocket 9's it it better to limp or small raise. Anyone who calls your raise is going to have you dominated most times.

Not to mention any flop with over cards is going to be trouble to your little pocket 9's and you will have to act before them most times.

Now it your on the button and facing no raises-or especially no callers- before you then your pocket 9's have a bit more value. Even then the blinds could be waking up to a monster.

GL on the felts

And if the fish thing bugs you on Sharkscope, then go there and opt out.
Peace

Not trying to attack you or anything RC, but are you trying to say that SS is for fish? I find it useful, at least entertaining ahha, to know someone's ROI. Now, I don't use it to put people down or anything of that sort, but it is interesting when someone relentlessesly talks down on the table and you find them to have a -20% ROI.

And although there it is possible a -ROI could simply be the effect of a learning curve, I don't think my ROI on SS has ever been below -5% and I'm far from a great poker player, so I get a little hint at someone's level of play when they sport a -15% ROI

It is one person per account on FTP and age limit is 21 (18 in some areas) so it isnt wise to announce that a 12 yr old is playing on your account. As for the OP use sharkscope to improve your game by breaking it down at what buy ins, # of players, etc. to determine what you are best at and stick with it.
