This topic came up while playing the first MBJ HORSE Tournament and I wanted to pose the question here. Why is this year's HORSE so short? Every other forum tournament series had been 20 weeks. Does HORSE just get **** on so much that we have to cut it in half?

Personally I like it better this way, it's not such a huge commitment.

lol what commitment? You're talking about $5 once a week?

Well I guess it's not really the commitment, it's just that it lasts quite awhile. I'm not going to argue about it, though, I just think that like 5 months is a bit long.

Possibly...

Rob- I think 10 weeks will work out better.

a. The Top 5 after 10 weeks will most likely be in the Top 5 after 20 weeks. Four of the Top 5 after 10 weeks in HORSE Season 2, ended up in the Top 5 after 20 weeks.

b. To have a shot at a Top 3 spot, you almost have to commit to playing in 15 out of 20 weeks. That's a sizable cash and time commitment to many.

c. We'll now be able to get more "seasons" in during the year... maybe even have a season dedicated to something other than HORSE or NLHE. Personally, I'd love to play a season dedicated to Limit or PL Omaha.

d. More seasons w/ diiferent time slots means more chances for people to play in these. I know some MBJ regulars could not make the latest 14:00 time slot on Saturday.

e. If Rick dishes out FTP's at the end of the season as he has done for other seasons, this actually works out to be a better deal for us players.

Why don't we run HORSE and NLHE at the same time? Of course each on it's own day at it's own time. If people can make both great if not it's likely they can make one.

That's fine w/ me, and I think it was suggested before, but it adds to Rick's already-full plate... setting up the tourney, dishing out the FTP's.

If it's ok with him, then I can't think of a good reason not to do it. People may get burnt out faster, but if someone wanted a break, it would only be for 3 months, not 6... plus, breaks are built into the schedule (play up to 8 out of 10 weeks), then a 1-2 week break after the TOC.

Sorry, but you walked right into that one.

If the players want to run their own tournaments (and I don't have the time), the forum can run their own. No problem here.

So is it cool if we just email FTP and have them set up the MBJ NLHE tournaments? What does everyone else think? Is there interest in running the MBJ NLHE now also?

Personally, I'm fine with just HORSE for now.

We had a very light turnout for Week 1 (13 players)... so, for Week 2, I'm putting a $5 bounty on myself.

And remember, there is a 10,000 FTP overlay each week... not to mention freerolls at the end of the season... a 50k FTP freeroll for places 1-16 and a 25k FTP freeroll for places 17-32.

Did someone say, "freeroll"?!?

Saturdays at 1400 is a tough starting time, Pete.
