Just curious to see what some peoples strategy's are when playing these? I personally find them very fun and exciting.

For instance, when I'm against an opponent that I can't get a read on and their just mowing all over me, maybe even being outplayed, I become hyper aggressive and start pushing hard and not afraid to go all in pre-flop with hands I wouldn't normally push with. That may sound lame but when your down and not winning you have to do what you have to do. I'm also curious to what some other people do when they encounter this situation or like it.

Also, I'm curious how many people play the AK in heads up and being re raised pre-flop. This happens to me a lot. I know a lot of people will just push all in at this point...

I would like this to be an open HU discussion. So any questions, comments suggestions even stories are welcome! I'm not a HU pro by any means but maybe if we get enough of us together we can come up with some interesting theory and so on.

I haven't played in heads up shootouts, but one thing I've noticed being heads up at the end of SnGs is that especially if things aren't going so great, you can get a lot more respect than you probably should from a cautious player by waiting for a time when you have a half decent hand (in case you do get caught) and they lay out a small preflop raise. Shove, and they will most likely fold if you have a significant stack (enough that you'd take the chip lead if they call and lose). Then, try to shove 3-4 times in the next 8-10 hands. After that, cool it. In my experience, you'll get several hands without preflop raises from your opponent, and even some folding with them in the small blind. The idea is to make them look at their hands in such a way that if they wouldn't shove preflop, they'll be nervous to commit any bets at all, since you might shove on them.

It won't work on every opponent, but against many opponents, the abrupt shift in game play will get them to weaken their betting significantly, making it easier to take chips off them.
