So im not new to cards in particular,im an ex-magic the gathering player(many numerous world championship top cuts)along with soon to be ex-pokemon tcg also numerous worlds topcuts. Anyway im only 17 and im already up to $1O27.37 from playing in "underground tournaments" or with friends usually older than me(2O+) who themselves are in the real tourny channel. But i find myself playing very tight. If i have K8off i will fold it and try not to bluff. Im always waiting for the good hands. any tips?

In tournaments you have to adjust your starting hand according to several things. If you're close to blinding out or just the short stack you really can't be too picky and just go for it. Yet, when you're nearly in the money staying tight is good until your in for sure. Then when it's down to 3-4 people you will also want to play alot of hands you'd normally throw away. Hope this helps.

Just focus on learning the game. More and more profitable situations will appear as you get better.

Hey dude great attitude
I am just about the tightest person i know and i do ok, tight is not always a bad thing.
What i did was to play play chip tables and practice being loose, You will loose money, of course you will, so learn for free and apply what u learn for cash.
If you treat it like an exercise and see what you limits are it can be fun too, also taught myself how to bluff the same way lost 1/2 mill play chips but it was the best lesson. Taught me how to loose big too.
Then when u need it most you have your tight game ready.
Also read everything in the forums these guys know so much and will help u with anything.
There are some great instructional vids about in game play about too they are VERY useful.

And remember to learn you have to play people better than yourself, beating the weak might be fun but its not learning.

Good luck for the future, might see you around.

I have a formula and if your sharkscope my screenname, you will see i win well in sit n go'es....

screenname : calichamp on pokerstars

I don't get involved in any pots until the blinds are 75-150 unless i have a top 10 hand.......think about the formula.....reasons behind it but essentially i dont put my chips in until there are a good amount of chips to go after.....

good day
