I've been playing some of the $3 KO tournaments recently, both the 90-man SNG and the MTT. And, no matter what tournament it is, there is one constant; people are willing to do anything for a bounty. People will call of their entire stack with 3-6 offsuit to try and win the hand and get the bounty; in this case, $0.50. Or, if the BB is all-in because of a previous loss, people are pushing all-in with ATC. For example, I saw someone with $2,955 in chips in the first level, push all in from 2nd postition with 6-2 suited, only because the BB was all in for 30 chips. This is just completely dumb in my opinion.

I think the way you play a KO tournament says a lot about your poker style and mindset. These same people who's focus is primarily the bounty, are usually the same ones who play at the 25-50 cent tables with a bankroll of $60. Or, they will play a $20 SNG with the same bankroll. They are too focused on the short-term results, that they are forgetting the long-term implications. Of course, there are exceptions, and maybe a lot, but it's funny how some of the same issues you hear people say that they have with bankroll management, can similarly appear in a KO tournament.

I know a pro posted this tip a while back, and it is so true. Remember that the point of a tournament, even a KO, is to win the tournament. I believe so many lose sight of this, and think the KO is the goal. It's certainly nice to gain some KO's, but say you KO 3 people and don't make the money, you still lost $1.80 in a $3 KO tourney. But, if you make the money, you're already at a profit.

My advice is to sit back, and wait for great hands early on to play, and then fast-play them. Especially at the $3 level (not sure if it's the same at the higher levels). If you can see a cheap flop with a suited connector or any medium-strength hand, go for it. But, just because it's the 3rd hand of the tournament, and someone has pushed all-in for 1k, and you have K-T in the BB (no other callers), it doesn't mean you have to call for the bounty. If you have a good read, then go for it, but it's not an auto call. Remember, your goal should be to win the tournament, not go all out for a KO.

Later on hoply i have the chips to pick off some small and medium stack who get desprate oh and hope i run good too.

played a $10 90 person KO game and got 3rd, had 3 KO's

the goal of this tournament is the same of any other: make the money and win 1st place.

please dont tap and of course you play to win. The bounty is even less negligable than the bubble money is. All the bounties do is ensure that the prize pool gets distributed more evenly over the entire pool of players.
Bonus effect is that it encourages the fish to do stupid sht.

I play KO 90 player sitngos more than any other type. I was wondering if there is any way to track the money won in ko bounties. Officialpokerrankings.com and shark scope fail to take this money into account in their results.

If this is the case, why would any solid poker player actually WANT to play a KO tournament? If your aim is to make the good money deep in the tournament (as it should be) and you have the skill to do so regularly, it seems to me playing KO vs. non-KO tournaments is wasting potential.

You're essentially buying in to lower payout games and letting weak players steal some of the prize pool.
