I decided to start playing at a local room last night. I have played home games and some online, but I am not a super solid player. 2/6 limit HE was the game, bought in for $40. I told them all it was my first time playing like this, and I think it showed.
I sat at "table one" and watched people chasing the whole time, a lot of ace high wins with max bets all the way through, three handed. Anytime I was SB or BB everyone at the table stayed in and raised to max. I noticed that there were two couples playing as teams. I stayed in and kept pretty even but up a bit, hardly played any hands.
I got moved to the "main table" based on order coming into the game. Two others from the prior table were there, but not the people playing as teams. They seemed a lot tighter here.
So I hit A6 suited. Max bet cam around 4 handed. Flop was in favor of my suited, and was not possible for a full house or straight flush. I keep the max bet, as did two other players. Next card came, and i hit my flush. Guy to my left folded final card so it was me and other finishing, which put me all in. Obviously, there was not a better hand possible and i won. The guy had two pair and was pissed.
Very next hand went almost exactly the same, but this time he had a queen high to my ace high flush. When it was just him and I left he asked as he raised if I carried the ace, I game him an honest answer and raised back.. he called and lost.
I called for racks to keep my now huge chip pile in order, and he got pissed that I was planning on leaving. I stayed for two more rounds of blinds, playing one hand to showdown (and losing) and left.
The guy who lost his stacks (and cool) gave me the indication that it was a bad idea to leave without letting him have a chance to win some back. He lost some more and hit his cell phone calling people in. The young lady I came in with went broke and was waiting on the list to come back in. So i decided we should go.
My questions are:
A.) Was it bad play going max bet 4 handed with possible Ace high flush?
B.) Is it bad form to leave like I did?
C.) Would it have been bad form to leaving immediately after hitting my 5x buy in goal? (in general, not specifically to this case) |
