First of all, I dont claim to be a limit expert. I dont even claim to be a holdem expert, but I am a moderately winning player when i play 0.5-1 NLHE. My main games are Stud, Omaha Hi Lo and Razz, unlike many players who play these games as a diversion, I'm the other way round, I play holdem as a diversion.
But anyway, my worst game by FAR is Heads up limit holdem. Im absolutely abominable at it !! Here is a summary of some of the common problems I run into (ignoring the specific hand holdings as Im generalising :
BUTTON PLAY
I raise on the button most hands and my opponent usually calls. Most flops miss both players, so often the nearly always checks to me as Ive raised PF. I make a continuation bet which is invariably called. Turn blanks. If I bet again with nothing I invariably get called down, or else I check, he bets and I have to fold. So many hands follow this pattern. I do get paid off of course when I have a hand, such as top pair or better etc but this doesnt happen anywhere near enough to cover the losses in the other hands.
WHEN I AM OUT OF POSITION
I usually call my opponents PF raises otherwise he will just start raising with anything. If i catch s apiece of the flop i call down or raise, but invariably am behind when calling down, and when I have a monster I seem to win the minimum ! |

| Post hands. This is way too general for anyone to give you good advice without writing an essay on HU limit in the process. |

| In the mean time may I recommend that OP read The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King? It is a fun, fairly easy read and actually contains a smidgen of HU Limit holdem strategy. Certainly you won't be any kind of an expert, but every little bit helps. |

| HU LHE is the bane of a lot of LHE and poker players for that matter. I can't even begin to write how to play as it varies with every player. One thing I do know is that it can felt a roll in a hurry and that it is the only form of poker that a bot can play to perfection. Not really worth the headache IMO. |
