| I am just wondering if there is a reason for the bring in not being automatic like blinds? As far as I know you can't not bring in if you are the high card, so why not just save everyones times by making it automatic? People often take their full time limit just to bring in which I feel slows the game down considerably... |

Nah, you're not an idiot. You are actually right and thats how the game should be played since only a complete lagtard donk idiot lame brain would ever come in for a complete.
I guess it is just left that way so you can easily spot a complete lagtard donk idiot lame brain when they are at the table with you.

Really? I can imagine situations where bringing in for a completion may have just the effect that you want.
Heads up, $2-$4, $0.40 ante, $0.50 bring-in. You have the bring-in.
If you complete, your opponent is getting 1.4:1 pot odds to peel 4th. ($2 into a $2.80 pot.)
If you bring-in and your opponent calls, he's getting 2.6:1 pot odds to peel 4th. ($0.50 into a $1.30 pot.)
If you bring-in, your opponent completes, and you raise, he's getting 3.4:1 pot odds to peel 4th. ($2 into a $6.80 pot.)
Seems pretty obvious that if you don't want your opponent to see 4th street, bringing in for a full completion isn't a bad idea. Usually, you'll want a hand which is at least good enough to call a raise at 3.4:1 pot odds, but not good enough that you actually want him to play. And just so that you're not predictable, you need to mix in occasionally doing the full completion with monster starting hands or with total bluffs.
And if you want your opponent to see 4th street, and most of the time that you have a hand which can't call a raise, bring in for the minimum. |
