| Played on PS for awhile and got tired quickly. Fairly comfortable with Holdem and tried Stud today. Post what tables you guys play at and id like to come join you, or you join me. I just float from tables, still getting down some gimmicks. |

Welcome to the forums, Contanti.
Not a lot of stud players here, but we do play a lot of NLHE. Go to table 'FTP Forum' and you'll often find several forumers playing, myself included. |

| There are some Stud players on the forum. Off the top of my head Strasse Dumwaldo, Hujwang and Zophar play Stud. I do to but not so much in ring games. There is a forum HORSE table called "FTP Forum" Where you will find forumers from time to time. Your best bet to find forumers playing is the NLHE forum table though. |

I am not playing on FTP anymore. I am currently going through an 'I hate FTP lag and disconnects' phase.
2 bits of advice for FTP stud players.
#1 do not fear the red named Sextons. In my experience none are particularly tough opponents but hey like to buy in big on the tables. Why supposed professionals would be buying into a $2/$4 game with $300 and $400 is beyond me but if you sit down and they have a mountain of money chances are they brought it to he table and did not win it in that session.
#2 any time you are at a table with Strasse just fold if he is in the hand. Even if it is rolled up aces, JUST FOLD!  |

| lol thanks for the heads up. sucks ur in a "phase" as i am now with PS, but ill get never over that one. anyway... i wont be at a 2/4 Stud for awhile. Still workin on the .10 .25 as i am still fairly new and dont have a ton of cash on me |

Stud Hi sucks.
Advise, on your starting three you want to have at least a big pair, trips, three conected cards or three suited cards. Although you won't hit your flushes very often even with three suited cards. With the suited and connector cards you want to see how many of the cards you need are burned by the others door cards to decide if it is wise to proceed.
You cannot trust just a pair to take down the pot, need to improve to atleast 2 pair if you want to have a shot at the pot. be careful with low sets as you can lose a lot of money to a higher set
I may be wrong on that above, if there are stud players out there, I would be interested on learning more about it. Those starting hands above are the only ones I ever seem to have any success with unless I get really lucky with some crap hands. Little pairs, if they don't hit get into real trouble a lot of times.
I have been playing HORSE a bit, and I see a lot of players lose big chip stacks in the stud Hi part. I would be interested to see what starting hands are considered premium in stud.

| thanks on the above. ive stayed neutral through out today. But me and Norman-B were wondering today hwat happens on an 8 top when all players stay throughout until 7th? whats happens? as there are nt 56 cards in a deck...unless i missed osmething which could be cause of all the bad beats ive taken on PS... |

7th Street would be dealt as a community card that everyone would share. |

| The 7th card will not be dealt, instead the last card (the 49:th) will be placed on the board as a community card. |

The GENERAL rule of thumb is you are looking for three cards that are working well together AND have a good supply of live outs.
Stud affords you a luxury not found in flop games. You get to see your outs dying and that is a critically important part of the game. You also get to asses your opponents potential outs dying. I can not stress enough how important it is to look at ALL of your opponents cards before even considering your own.
If I look around the table and see 4 spades on the doors and 6 cards under 8 my 4s5s6s might not look so good but if I look around the table and see red paint all over the doors I might want to play this hand.
It is also important to try and make an educated guess at players hole cads based on their actions and door cards. When I see someone come into a pot with a small card I will figure they are holding 2 coordinated small cards or two suited cards in the hole. I don't want to be in a pot chasing a small straight if someone else is already doing that stealing my outs. I do not want to get involved in a race for a flush against someone holding the same suit as me. I just find these to be unfavorable gambling situations.
But don't get me wrong here. I am not suggesting that stud needsto be played as some ultra tight grind. If you pay enough attention to your opponents cards your range of opening hands should be able to open up. If you are attentive enough to stay mindful of what cards you have seen go dead and are good and speculating on the cards you did not get to see go dead you should be able to play one gappers, small pairs and bluffs just as confidently as you play rolled up aces.
Yes, there are bluffs in stud.
