I received an invitation to attend Howard Lederer's Poker Camp, which was held in Las Vegas a while ago. The poker training camp is one of a kind. It is a combination of small poker training sessions, followed by live action tournaments. Participants receive instruction from some of the world's most respected professional poker players.
The formal poker training is held in the mornings. These sessions are taught through lectures followed by live question and answer. Most of the presenters incorporated PowerPoint slides into their presentations. Each presenter spoke for approximately 30 to 40 minutes, then left a generous 20 minutes for audience questions.
Although the presentations were very informative, I particularly enjoyed the audience participation component. All of the formal presentations were scripted -- meaning that the pro's basically followed their outlines.
However, during the audience participation the presenters REALLY opened up. Camp participants were able to learn a lot about professional poker player psychology. This was the sort of information that can't really be communicated effectively in books (or information that a pro player may not want to publish). Personally, this information was the most valuable part of the camp. Where else can you ask somebody like Howard Lederer which pro player he most fears at poker tournaments and why? (Answer: Gus Hanson).
The camp was costly, but it was most definetly worth it. I learned a lot about No Limit Holdem, as well as Omaha, and Razz.
I mainly attended this camp to learn more about the dynamics of Razz. I have been playing razz for 8 years now and really enjoy the game. I understand most people see it as a "joke game", but I have made more money at it than holdem. So basically, I am offering to tutor anyone in the art of Razz for $7/hr. I willincorporate things I learned from the camp as well as my strategies and tips. Anyone interested please post here or leave me a pm. Hopefully my lessons will help you increase your bankroll via razz. |

Very interesting trip report. Was this the HORSE camp that I saw advertised? IIRC Mark Seif was slated as the instructor for the razz portion. Either way, it sounds like you got a lot out of the experience and if nothing else learned not to tangle with Gus Hanson (unless the game is razz, that is )
I can tell you from first hand experience that the market for razz instruction is small because of the game's reputation and the lack of action compared to HE. I'm certainly doing all I can to help with both of these problems, and respect you for doing the same. There are a lot of razz players out there who need the help so if you're willing to work with beginning players at such a reasonable rate then good on ya. |

Here is an excerpt copied directly from the above site, with the fun parts put in bold by Clamper13.
Date: 04/03/05
Room: General News
Summary: I spent the weekend learning from and playing poker with some of the top professional poker players in the world at Howard Lederer's Poker Camp.
Content: Operating a popular poker website does have its perks.
This week I received an invitation to attend Howard Lederer's Poker Camp, which was held right here in Las Vegas over the weekend.
In general, the presentations were good. I consider myself an intermediate poker player, but my experience and education is mostly in limit Texas Hold'em. By contrast, most of the presenters focused on tournament and No Limit Texas Hold'em strategy. Because I am not extremely experienced in NL tournament poker play, I can honestly say that I learned quite a bit from the presentations.
Stay tuned folks, this gets better... |

| Yea, whoever scored the most points (the tournaments we played were based on a points system) was asked to write a short synopsis on the camp for $100. I tried to capture the most important and exciting parts of the camp in my article. |

Title: Taking the ma5ter to ta5k, or Clamper13 unwinds.
For those of you who peruse other poker forums, my reply might look familiar. Check here for a reminder.
http://www.pokerforums.org/general-online-poker-discussion/26098-razz-lessons.html
The OP there is named TasK.
Sound familiar? I though so too, but I couldn't quite remember. So I searched his other posts there, and found this one with an IM transcript.
http://www.pokerforums.org/money-transfers/26063-bsk572-bertj921-scammer.html
General Disaray6, General Disaray6, General Disaray6
Where have I seen that before? My memory is lousy. Good thing I keep plenty of notes.

So what do we have here?
TasK on another site using the same IM as our very own ta5kma5ter, posting now as nero75 the very same (plagiarized?) work, a solicitatation to teach Razz at $7 an hour to boot.
Nevermind the -EV aspect of teaching Razz at $7 per hour. Let's just hope that after investing $3,499 plus a trip to Las Vegas that one would know enough to earn more than that playing instead of teaching.
Yo, snap! The article doesn't mention Razz. Nevermind indeed.
Believe what you will folks, but if I spent a month with Bacchus himself, his influence could not wrest from my mind the knowledge that these names are never to be trusted.

This guy (Nero75), has tried to scam/beg money out of me on two occasions..
(scam): First, he tried to make a prop bet with me. (When I asked him to sit at a table with some money he then left..)
(beg): Then, I was at a razz table.. He was there begging for money (also heard from another guy that he does it regularly), then started begging me for a stake (after he failed to try to scam me on a bet a few months back).
Now this..
You'll do anything for a few bucks, huh? |

| Little strange, only one FTP name is allowed and clamper13 is naming all these people I do not know that are not me and trying to fit pieces together that don't belong. Believe what you wish people, but the truth is... clamper just sits around all day on forums belittling people and making himself look more trusted. I know of a few threads he has ruined. Some perfectly respectable players have made transaction posts and clamper sticks his nose where it doesnt belong and tells people he is a potential scammer...... so how reliable is this loser's word? |

Hello everyone. My name is Doug, and I'm the owner of AllVegasPoker.com. The article that nero75 posted here (above) is a rip off from a 100% original article I wrote after I was invited to review the Howard Lederer poker camp in 2005.
If you have any questions concerning its authenticity refer to this post on my site: http://www.allvegaspoker.com/trip_detail_76.html
That post is an experience I had from the same camp.
I would strongly discourage anyone from considering services provided by nero75, since he steals the work of others and holds it out as his own.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at info@allvegaspoker.com ...
Best wishes,
Doug |
