haha, that actually made me laugh too. If I were Ms. Mercier, I would probably play with myself a lot more-->*cough* *ahem* poker that is... Just a huge fan I guess, or just fan. She sent me an autographed and personalised picture from a hotel somewhere in CA after contacting her through her website. I thought that was neat so I scanned it in as my sig. The "For some even luck is an art" was my request--its just cool as hell she took the time to do it, imho. I think she has a wicked read and great aggressive style. (not to mention what the French call a certain, je ne sais pas)

You say:
| Quote: |
| The strategies outlined on the site are easily beatable |
This is not true and maybe you only looked at the pre flop hands, which it discusses are all about adapting to the players at the table.
The site does not set anything in stone and encourages players to be playing the players around them and to adapt adapt adapt, explot weaknesses in others, etc
Definetly not easily beatable. The fact you say beatable does not in fact make any sense.
The site looks at more than playing cards, theres so much more, table selction, seat selection in relation to fish or LAGS, etc etc |

Playing algorithmically or reacting algorithmically is the same thing--and both predictable and poor play. I barely see anything on the site regarding making adjustments and changing gears to not be predictable. Anything that is on there just says simply "don't be predictable" while the rest of the site tries to outline what to do in every forseeable situation. No fault of the author, but trying to contain every situation will take a lifetime of web-editing and probably more.
So again, give me a table of algorithmic players and I will methodically extract the most bets over the long run--and more likely the short run too. And starting hand charts DO matter, especially in 6 max, and your charts need work. I'm glad you are adding blind play, but by your own admission this is missing and being worked on. In 6 max this is 1/3 of your game (being in the blind) so forgive me but don't sue me for saying the strategy outlined thus far on the site is incomplete and therefore beatable on that count alone disregarding any other fallacies outlined.
There is hardly any new information on this site, it just seems like a collection of echoed random items from other publications. Again, I'm not saying it won't help the average joe get better, just don't expect great players to come out of this yet. If you inspire the next legend of poker to read and study more, kudos--but this site alone will not do it. |

There is no set starting hand chart in 6 max poker.
If UTG is a 6 handed game is KTo or QJo playable?
Is T9s playable?
The answers to these questions are not set in stone, a chart says yes or no,
A chart cannot encourage a player to think about why sometimes KT0 is playable and when it is not.
http://www.beat6max.com addresses these issues.
Is it correct to 3 bet on the button with A7o, or 66??
Some players will happily auto fold these all the time.
Other players will see and take opportunites to make these plays.
Have you read Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller? A very good book, but does it look at blind defence or blind stealing?
No, so therefore the book has a huge whole of info missing, my point being no website or strategy site can be the be all and end all. |

Thanks for playing... BAD ANALOGY *cheesy game show jingle in the background*. You are comparing apples to oranges, a book by Miller & friends vs. website that pieces together other work and references in a (forgive me) slightly unorganized fashion. But, thanks for agreeing with the points I made before.
In all seriousness, I do like to see people pondering strategies and thinking about poker in general. I really do hope the site inspires more people to try 6max and learn more, but they will not just need to read Miller, but other publications as well as put in the time on the felt. Time spent here on this forum is well worth it too, imo Q.E.D. |
