although this wasnt for money, me and some friends were playin and this happened:
Player 1: Ah Ad
Player 2: 10s Js
both players all in before flop
Flop:
As 2c Ac
Turn:
Ks
River:
Qs
so the guy beats quad aces with runner runner royal flush
pretty brutal eh? |

If this really happened,
Stand up,
Get a beverage,
Walk away.
Nothing you can do about that.
Oh yeah, like a hole in one, drinks on the Royal Flusher all night long. |

jack is right, JT wouldn't have been allowed to stay in for the runner runner, even at the turn I'm pretty sure.
But then again the danger of playing with bad players is that you cannot bet them out of a pot. If someone got the royal in this scenario playing for real money, please tell me where they are playing... |

Really? Nobody slowplays quad Aces??? Even if you correctly put your opponent on an exact hand which can make a straight flush, in this case, you'd know your opponent had a one-outer going to the river.
Personally, if I've got quad Aces, I'm going to give my opponent every opportunity to make a straight, flush, boat, whatever... If, as in this case, it comes down to where he needs to have the exact perfect hand (J-10 of spades) to beat me, then I'll probably lose big, but 99 times out of 100, I'll make more money by letting him stay in the hand. |

| jbrennen, I understand what you're saying, but that situation is different from this play money situation. My point was that the eventual winner wouldn't have stayed in the pot with his hand for real money in the face of the betting that took place. |

I just reread it, and I missed before that both players were all-in preflop, which does change things a bit, since nobody even had a chance to slowplay quad Aces.
But I've certainly seen folks push all-in preflop (for real money) with hands like JTs. It would make a big difference what the betting was like -- who pushed all-in first, the AA or the JTs? Going all-in preflop with JTs could be a reasonable play in late position. But calling somebody else's all-in with JTs would usually be a mistake unless it's a tournament and one of the players involved is a short stack. |
