As you can see from the blind levels, My opponent is obviously a decent EDIT: PLO player. The chips stacks have gone back and forth many times where we both were short stacked a couple of times. We both played a fine SS and got back into the game.
This move on the river really confused me. I was content with checking it down until I hit trips on the river, where I bet for value hoping to get a call my 2 pair.

| Fold. I almost guarantee he has an 8 or 8's full(53 the only other likely hand) and was just waiting for you to catch up. With that board on the flop and turn, unless you have at minimum a paint pair, he knows your not calling anything. FOLD. |

Cubbies also has a low though. It's likely he will get half the pot, although that is a lot of chips to risk just for a split. You have to call 400 to win 1200 if you scoop, 600 if you split. Therefore, if you split, you get 800 chips back. Therefore, you only have to split half the time to break even, assuming you will never scoop. I think I'd call here, but it is very close. |

Lol, this is why it sucks to go to a thread from the "recent posts".. doesn't tell you what section it's in.
And then to add to that, cubbies makes it look like it's PLO8..

Sorry Strasse for misleading you by the PLO8 reference in my OP. I had originally put this in the PLO8 forum, and it actually was my only PLO game out of many PLO8 games today. I deleted it in time to repost it in this forum, without changing the PLO8 to PLO.
My apologies. |

| I think a fold here is the right play. I would probably just check on the river there. Without knowing how the guy was playing preflop for the rest of the game, I would be happy to check down my hand. I dont think he can call with even a big 2 pair here. |

| Just because the blind levels are 100-200 doesn't mean your opponent is decent. Here, I would fold because it obv. looks like your opponent is nut-peddling. |

Here is the result, and my thought process for my play.
I could see him slow playing trips on the flop, so that I wouldn't get scared off, and to allow me to catch up. The turn being 3 hearts may keep him from betting there if he only had trips, hoping to take a free card at filling up.
Once the river hit with the board showing 2 pair, his 3rd check made me think that he didnt have the 8. There was still a possibility of a flush, but I don't think that he would have checked a hand that was better than trip 3s on the river, so after I bet for value, I just couldn't give him credit for a flush or an 8. I also had the Ace kicker for trip 3's if he hit the 3 along with me.
