While playing HORSE, do you play each game equally or do you tend to play tighter during your weaker games and looser during your stronger games? Also, when you get shortstacked is there a certain game that you find is best to take a chance at doubling up?

If you can't play each game well then you shouldn't play horse. Stick to your best game if that's the case and don't play horse unless you can use a balanced strategy in each game.
The play money tables can be useful to get a feel for how each game works. They won't however, help you with anything more than a very basic strategy. |

I think the previous advise is a bit conservative.
Obviously when you first get started you will have games your stronger at. Word is even the top pros in the big game have some games they're stronger at than others (god forbid). On the other hand, you shouldn't suck at any of them. I recommend playing a safer game in the games you're less comfortable in; that is, a play to avoid losses rather than maximize profit. For example, when I first started playing my objective was to get through Stud H/L break even and to squeak out a little in the others. That's just me.
Good luck! |

Horse is my favorite game to play. I try to play each game with the best starting hands.....I catch myself fishing some, but that gets me into trouble. I am a tight player in all games most of the time. Best of Luck to everyone |

| Play tight and pass on anything but primo starters, regardless of the game. Don't get involved or stay involved in marginal hands. The down side of HORSE is that the blind/ante structure escalates quickly enough that if you don't catch cards early, you can be shortstacked by the second hour. |

I just got into horse, and I already love it. I had a basic knowlege of Omaha Stud and Razz were played, and had read many books containing each game.
In omaha I would stay in as long as I thought I either had the best hand or I was drawing to the nuts with an out cheaply. If I had a mediocre hand by the time I knew what 80% of my hand was, I get out, I knew that there were several more hands in play than in Hold em, so I need the best hand.
In Razz if I had two cards below 7 among the first three cards, I would play, if my hand improved I would continue, I would watch other hands out there, and look for my outs, if I didn't see any of them, I would bet.
In stud it's Hi and hi/lo, so I determine which I am going to stay in for, hi or lo, I look at my opponents cards, look for my outs, and just play poker. No real stratagy, if I think my cards are better, or I think I can make the best hand, i bet. if I think I have ****, I fold.
I played two play chip limit horse games, and just obliterated everybody, I am playing my second real money horse right now, first one, didn't do so hot, but this one I am hanging in there.
I don't agree with sitting on the sidelines in parts of the game your not good at. Just about every omaha hand your delt is worth seeing the flop at least, you never know what your hand will produce. I do fold some of them, but I play the majority of them, at least to the flop. The pots are bigger in omaha, to sit those out is a losing stratagy.
I already told you what hands I play in razz, basically I stay in the action if I can get a hand under 8, unless I think my apponent can do better than that.
Stud, I'm clueless, I play if I think I'm gonna win, walk if I think I'm not.
Like I said, I'm a total beginner, but I like it.
P.S. Just won my first real money horse sng, yippee! |

I tend to give each game as much attention as the others. Although i will be quieter in the first hold em round so as to evaluate players and not be the short stack going into later rounds. Playing a sit n go HORSE (especially limit) takes time so no need to be a maniac.
Just apply the tactics you use for standard games in each stage of the HORSE event and leave the rest to the cards. |

The thing about HORSE that is generally a strategic consistent for me would be the fact that I can always fold away any round if I feel that I am just running horribly cold.
Other than that my strategy for how to approach each individual rounds is always varied to reflect the other players on the table. I don't choose how I will play, the other players choose for me.
peace,
