I do great in the sng's and in cash games.However...I end up lasting a long time in the multis...but always finishing on the bubble.I build up a stack and then whoosh....I go downhill.I ride that stack trying to catch hole cards that never come.I get blinds stolen, and I notice I get super tight. When I try to raise or get aggresive..I have bad timeing.Any books or suggestions?

| Read both Harrington on Hold em books, they are great for MTTs. |

| I actaully have had similar results. I am very good early on at building a big stack, and once I get to the final table I am also very good at finishing high, but that middle stage gives me problems. |

| I find this problem happens to me a lot. Sometimes it is just bad luck when you can catch no cards. For some reason in the middle of the tournament people just will not let you steal their blinds. Later on at final 1-2 tables you can though. Its quite strange but seems to be consistent. I have even had trouble taking blinds from really weak hands on the bubble. Ussually I try and remedy this just by playing tighting and pushing any good cards like AK and up really hard preflop, reraising, putting people all in. Anything I can do to get a lot in as a favorite, as long as its not all my chips. If those cards never come your kind of screwed. Don't forget, sometimes no matter what you do, you can't win. But if you find this happening consistently there is more likely to be a flaw in your game. I just find this to be the reason I bust in the middle stages. Ussually I'm out early to a bad situation (kk vs aa) or a suckout. Or I'm out in the middle due to this problem. If I make it into the money I rarely finish below top 5. Maybe my game is just more suited for it. Definitely read books like HOH V1 and V2 though. There are always leaks in everyone's games. |

I have had an EERILY SIMILAR experience with the middle stage of tournies. |

I have been tearing up smaller 100 or so person tournies. Ussually they will be stud or limit holdem as they aren't as popular. Or bigger buy in nl's. This is mainly because this middle stage becomes the end stage and my normal game works better. It's the 200-300 person ones that the problem comes up in. I have been getting many high finishes and wins in the smaller people ones.
All I can see doing is waiting for premium hands and pushing them very hard and hoping for a little luck. Unless some players can be found to give up there blinds. But it seems post playes turn into calling stations during these rounds. I think it is because the blinds aren't too bad yet so they don't mind calling a lot. Basically wait for big hands and exploit this. When those hands don't come, you just have to pick something and hope. |
