What are the other doorcards, if any?

Without any information on what other doorcards were out, I say check. A bet here will, unless the opponent is a TOTAL idiot, get him to fold.

I can't believe how many idiots are saying to bet. Sure you will have the best hand 99.9999999999% of the time, but you will never make any money off of a bet, so the .0000000000000001% of the time that you bet and get raised, you are losing money with no way to win anything on the other times.

+1 steve-nash

there is absolutely no reason to bet in this situation. as i said in my post previous, this is a situation where betting is the worst possible thing you can do in this situation. there is no value to gain, and no extra bets to make, so you are not playing this conservatively by checking. you're protecting yourself in the extreme case you're beat and its the only possible way you can win a bet. betting is the absolute worst thing you can do in this situation.

The important point to take out of this post is river play.

On the river, there are two, AND ONLY TWO, reasons to bet.

1. If a worse hand will call.
2. If a better hand will fold.

In the example, you have quads showing. You will not get a better hand to fold (in fact, they will reraise), and you will not get a worse hand to call.

The correct answer is to check.

I notice that most of the forum pros all said check, but the overall poll had more people say bet.

Check/call. Like said a number of times above: you are not going to get any action unless he improved to quads or better, in which case you'll lose 2 bets instead of one if you bet...
