I played in the 9k tonight, and was doing well to start with. After the first break I had a slightly above average chip stack. At that point I just went card dead. I didn't see a good hand, and when I tried to push with a mediocre hand someone would push real hard and force me to commit alot of chips to the pot. I barely stayed alive to the second break and by that time I only had 5 bb chip stack. I probably should have pushed before this point but I couldn't find a good enough hand. I eventually found a A3 and moved in and didn't catch.
My question is, what do you do in this situation? I could have pushed earlier I hate pushing with QJ off. |

| most of the time when im getting bad cards, i will wait around for a pushable hand like u were doing. but when nothing comes, u have to take advantage of your position, meaning going all in on the button with any two cards. J Q is a suitable hand to be pushing with if all u see is rags, give it a try next time when ur catching dead ones. most of the time u wont get a call from the two blinds, but if u do, 70% of the time u have live ones. |

Like you said you should have been moving in earlier.
When you get down to about 11-13x blinds you should start to think about bluffing all in certain pots. You of course want to be in position. Even if you pick up 86o, it can potentially be a hand to bluff all in if you have reads on the players. Say there are 2 limpers, you can certainly push it in position to try and pick it up. Obviously suited connectors, suited one gappers, any pair or anything that won't be dominated if someone decides to limp/call all in.
As well, when you are that low, you should be looking for open pushes in the CO, Button, & SB. Once again you can do it with a decent amount of hands if you are desperate. In the Sb you can basically push any2 cards with under 10x blinds. Just try and get a feel for the table. If they are very loose and more likely to call you need to start to make the move earlier where you have more Fold Equity.
Bluffing does not only mean post-flop. |

No offense to this great football genius, but I'd just recommend reading Harrington's books. I'd explain, but he says it a lot better than I could, and he has just a wee bit more experience. |
