I would make this laydown early in a tourney.
I just don't feel that putting my whole stack on the line with TP with a board that hits a whole bunch of hands is a good idea early.
you aren't pot committed at this point. But it also depends on what you think they have.

| Easy call? How does anyone get "easy call" out of "I put her on a better hand"? If that's your read, you don't call "just in case." |
Is this directed at me? My read is obviously not that we're beat here. It's a very easy call. |
Yes, directed at your answer. In similar circumstances, my read might be different...but that's NOT the question here. After he announces that his read was that he was behind, he puts all his chips in. Only by ignoring that one very important point can you say this is a call. Mind you, I agree that this is a call if you DON'T read your opponent that way, but that's not the facts here.
The thing is, we all always say, "do you have a read" "what are stack sizes" "what's your position" etc....but now the posters are ignoring one of those important points. If you read yourself as behind here, how many outs do you have? Darn few... If you assume only two pair, then any K, any T, and any runner runner pair and you win, but that's slim to put in half your stack. If he has the straight, you need to pull two cards, either J Q for the higher straight, or pair the board, then hit either the K or the paired card...also not enough to bet half your stack on. If the str8, your gonna be all in, because after you call, the turn will be a push from your opponent. In this case, it's middle ground, but no help, as you need to hit your K or the J Q str8.
Given that you aren't pot committed (260 in so far, 1500 chips left), why would anyone chase if they believe themselves behind?
So, IF you ignore his read, THEN it may be a call, but absent any other info, just that board, that bet, I'm willing to drop what may be the best hand since I have little invested. But, again, anyone saying, on his WHOLE outlined facts, "Easy call, ul" is just wrong.
As for the brunson quote, it also misses the facts. He hasn't yet called for half his chips...so it doesn't apply. |
When I ask for reads I mean the type of player, LAG, WT, etc...if he has a read on a better hand, then there is no reason to ask for what to do here. |

Fair enough, but you didn't make the qualification that you were ignoring part of his set-up. Those of us who read/post here a lot sometimes don't "show our math" and that's not helpful to the guys asking for help.
Like I said, in a vacuum, I don't necessarily disagree with you, but given ALL his facts, seemed like an easy fold.
Let's have another "when do you fold AA pre-flop" thread instead. |

| I conceded that in my last post UrbanMeyer, So My question basically was given that there are no reads what do you do here? BTW my only read was my gut or instict if you will. I had no real reads as this was only the fifth hand of the tournament. I did get involved with this particular player in one other pot and I think that will be the topic of another post... (I made an overaggressive all in w/ a 5 when my blind was raised by this player. I was trying to make a point i guess...) So, considering that what do you do when you are raised half your stack w KK Urban? |

I make it 3-4x to go preflop.
I bet the flop the way you did & then move in.
It's tough to put him on a range, but I think any range we do put him on will end up being from a 55 to 60% favorite.
If we want to narrow his range, then we can work on the exact numbers. |

| I don't know if you're beaten or not, but the biggest mistake you could possibly make in the hand is to call. If you think you're good, you'd better push. |

He did push, in my posts I was saying it was an easy "call" to in fact, push. |
