I thought about it for a couple seconds, and figured betting was the best move. A25 up checking with someone having 378 would seem pretty suspicious i think. If i check, they may both check behind me (the K will definately, and the 378 will probably). but is it so bad that they get a free card? i might pair up or hit paint on 6th, and the 378 might hit another low card, and then i can bet or check/raise. If i bet out now, i run the risk of not getting paid any more for the rest of the hand (although killing the hand when that 5th card came is something that normally happens in razz, and cant really be fought).

so what is it? Check or bet out?

I'd just bet out here, the check would seem way too suspicious for my tastes. Your board just looks too strong for either one to bet into. I think by betting out, it actually disguises your hand better and will get you more bets overall. The only way I could see a check working is if you're reading rubber to be hyper-agressive, and think he'll bet out a made 87 into your board. You might get more bets that way by check raising here, but I think that the best play would be to just bet and let the hand play itself out

BKMastermind375 is right. The only time a check would not seem terribly suspicious is if your opponent is showing a 6- or 7-low at that point. Even then, they might not bet given your board. You just have to bet and let them chase their hopeless draws. Plus, what happens if you check and catch "good" on 6th? They'll be even more afraid and even less likely to pay you off.

i agree with both of you and bet out.

it folded around, which isnt terribly unexpected. i think the hand was destined to be killed on 5th

If you've played with rubbersoul before, you know he's one of the top tourney and razz players. That check looks godawfully suspicious. You're way more likely to get action with a quick bet.

disagree with everyone in favor of betting. checking would look suspicious, however it may also induce a steal attempt from one of your opponents if not now at least maybe on the next street if you pair up or if you catch a big. for all they know you had an ace in the hole and paired up on fifth street.

you are pretty much right about the destiny of the hand regarding future bets - probably dead in the water either way. But by betting out with A25 showing, you pretty much ensured it.

The only arguments for checking is the fact that it is a 3 way pot and it is early in the tournament. I do not know if your opponents know your play, but if not, I would try a check here. One of them realy might bet, so u can call and check raise them on the next street, depending on the next cards. The fact that it is early in the tournament and u will probably showdown this hand is good too, cause u can build a solid, tricky image.
Oh, and you reraised on 3rd street, they called, so one of them must have a good hand and could consider betting into you, just to get some more infirmation.
But still I do not know if I wouldnt have bet there too. Especialy early in tourneys people tend to call even a hand like yours, so betting out isn't wrong at all.

I think you guys are overthinking this one. It really boils down to Rule #2 of Stud: "Never give your opponent(s) a free card." I wouldn't check because I never check. I'm either betting or folding. If I'm first to act, and already know I'm not hanging around, I'll check to try and get a free card, then fold if I don't.

(Btw, Rule #1 of Stud: "If you can't beat what you can see, fold.")
