Does it just run off Hi and low cards ?
If so then why dont I split there for the low?
What constitues as "low"
I thought it was just like holdem as far as flushes etc count for high hand
and then low hand was the low cards or smaller hand. |

| You not only use two card, but have to use two cards. Unless you have two diamonds in your hand, you cannot make a diamond flush. The same applys for the low. |

| You might want to try learning a little about the game before you try playing it again. You have to use 2 cards to make a high hand, and 2 cards to make a low hand. You only had one card that was 8 or below, so you cannot make a low no matter what the board is. The reason you did not make a flush, is that you were trying to use only one card, even though you claimed you were using two. The hand that you had is a very very bad hi/lo hand, since you cannot make a low, and the only cards you really have for a hi are just your kings. You want a hand that compliments itself. |

Thanx sloshed and strasse.
I just assumed hi/lo meant Highest ranking hand and lowest ranking hand split pots.
Asfar as using 2 cards to make a hand I would assume here it would just
use KJ King of diamond to make my flush and J rag as the second card.
I will read up more on how to play some of these games.
I want to add variety to the game I play as I did with just adding in mtt
with my normal game.
Thanx for the feedback. |

You assumed right. Best hand wins half the pot, best low hand the other half. To qualify for low, you must have 5 different cards 8 or below (for example a2468). Where you went wrong is that a hand is constructed out of no more or no less then 2 cards from your starting hand and 3 from the board. So when the board doesnt show at least 3 (different in rank) cards 8 or below, no low is possible and the high hand takes the whole pot (scoop). To make a flush you have to have 2 suited cards in your starting hand and 3 suited on the board. Consequently to make a full house, the board MUST be paired.
Beware of dodgy flushes and lows though. A jack or queen (and even a king)high flush is easily and frequently beaten by a higher flush in omaha (or a full house or better), especially in a multiway pot (shorthanded you should be fine). Even a full house isn't all that powerfull in omaha, depending on what cards you make it with. If jacks are paired on the board, accompanied by a 6 and you hold pocket 6's (which you normally don't play in high low, but let's not get into that right now), you should give up the hand if there is a lot of jamming being done by other players. At least one of them is certain to have jacks full or better to beat your sixes full.
Regarding the low: the highest card out of your low determines the strength of it. The one with the 'lowest high card' takes the low half. For example: a2347 beats a2348 for low because 7 is lower then 8. 23568 beats a4568 for low, because a 3 is lower then a 4.
If both have the same low hand (suppose you both have a2 on a board of 468KK), the low is split and you get a quarter of the whole pot.
Nice to see you getting into omaha hi lo. It's a fun game once you figure it out. Definetally my favourite! Good luck with it. |

Thanx Muk I might play it on play chips and learn it before doing it on cash again.
Ps might do that for all the games Razz stud etc. Learn them the way I did for NLHE on chips.
Then play them on cash. |
