Computer Video game called CounterStrike came out a few years ago. and when you would play online, there was a glitch that everytime u typed in "0" in came out as a "p" so the phrase i own you turned to pwn you and the rest is history. |

| WOW those are basic. i could do better then that. i also enjoy making myspace backgrounds. i made the one gypsy uses and i have about 40 of my own. |

While it probably originated as a typing error of the word own, it is now used intentionally by many members of the subculture. The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts; for example, "He just got pwned in that debate" or "The hunters pwned that bear." |

i believe it was actually a glitch in counter strike that registered o's as p's. |
