Well one guy flopped the nut flush and a qualifiable low, the other had two pair and nut low. So you're getting paid off on this hand as long as there is atleast two other people in the pot. You were very lucky that people think AJT6 is worth a raise. You're also lucky to hit the straight flush and not just a straight or a flush. The hand you played and raised with is a lot of times considered one of the worst in Omaha. It's kind of like playing T7s in hold 'em. If you hit the "nut" straight it can easily be beat by a number of hands and will get you in a lot of trouble. And if you hit a flush it's still easily beat. The fact that your playing Omaha makes your flushes and straights even more likely to be crushed.
I think raising preflop will cost you more in the long run then you make. But still NH and congrats on getting paid off. |

| Right but you have to realize, Doc has a special version of Full Tilt Poker. When he plays limit his call raise and fold buttons are replaced by raise, raise again, and raise + luckbox the river. |

No comment on that. Besides, I luckboxed the flop and capped with the nut high and what was the nut low until the river. I don't always luckbox on the river.
If I didn't hit big on the flop, I dump the hand. I did and got paid off - I should've figured there was a "nut" flush in play, which is why thespivy stayed in. I'm puzzled as to why jst4fun stayed in with just two pair on a 3-suited board and a weak low draw with a capped flop and turn.

Well, he's holding 9-8-2-A with a board of 9-8-5 then 9-8-5-T.
On the flop, he probably figures that he has 20 outs to either make a winning high (a full house) or the nut low. Of course, he doesn't know that he's drawing dead on the high side. (And anybody who folds a hand in this spot because he's afraid of the straight flush is playing way too tight, IMHO.)
With all the preflop chips in the pot (with a raised 5-way preflop pot), it seems like a reasonable play to call a capped pot on the flop. As it turned out, he put in 160 on the flop with a final pot size of 1000; he was getting better than 5-to-1 pot odds. With as many outs as he had (or thought he had), even if they're outs to half the pot, it seems like an easy call.
Then on the turn, he probably figures that his outs are still good, plus there's so many chips in the pot at this point that even if he makes his low and gets quartered, he still comes out ahead even after calling capped pots on the turn and river. Add to that the possibility that he could win the low outright (like he did) or that he could make a full house which would have a good chance of scooping (it wouldn't have, but he didn't know that), and it seems like a good idea to call the capped pot on the turn.
And of course on the river, the pot is so big that he has to call it down even if he only gets 1/6th of the pot (and he can't get less than that). |
