now razz is a fun game but i always seem to get unlucky Evil or Very Mad

my reasons for saying this is because you always have to get lucky after getting your down cards....... like for example

i was playing in a HORSE tounry during the razz section, i get the 3 down cards : ace 2 3 .....i think hmmmmmm......best hand in razz, worthy of a raise.......long story short i get 3 face cards and a 10, after commiting to the band before my 5th card and i lose a huge pot with 10 high........honestly

so burn me if you want, and sorry to all ye razz fanatics, but i think it requires the least amount of skill of any poker games Shocked

at the low limits (horse and razz freerolls) razz is one of my better games. playing ABC poker works there. i rather enjoy it until what happened to you happens to me. when it does i just go ahead and donk of the rest of my free chips and do something else. and it requires more skill then you might think.

Razz does require alot of skill. And what Ive seen can be pretty profitable if you are good at it. You have to think about what everyone else has showing and what they could be calling with in addition to your own cards.

Oh and if you caught 3 face cards, 10 and A 23 you wouldnt be 10 low. Your lowesy face card would have been low. Besides you should have folded with the second face card or 10 unless your up aginst one opponent and he doesnt have anything good showing either.

Its just amazing to me that besides a few chapters lumped in with stud or draw poker there isnt any books on it.

Helmuth has a chapter about it in his play poker like the pros but that was pretty small and pretty general.

maybe its because nobody is insane enough to play long enough to research it.

I almost never raise unless someone with a J or something has completed. In Razz you still have to catch good, and even though you are ahead at the start, I don't agree that you are ahead enough. Remember that some of the callers probably have 4s or 5s, which takes some of your best outs right away.

Depending on what the others were showing, if you hit 2 bricks, you might consider folding on 5th, and unless he has 3 bricks showing also you should be ready to drop it at 6th. Sounds like you took this hand too far.
