i cant call it a "bad beat" in any way.. but it is definetaly a tuff beat

i'm dealt pocket aces on the button 6 handed seat 3 raises tripple the big blind and i tripple that bet he calls

flop comes out KAK he checks and i check behind him (2 diamonds)

next card is a 2 of diamonds (making 3 on board) he makes a small bet almost like a trap thinking he hit his flush i raise tripple his bet he reraises all in for 200 dollars and i call imediatly

i turn over my AA and he turns over KK for 4 kings and takes me out

didnt even see that coming Sad

He actually said he wouldn't go broke there?

I know he's mentioned before he likes just calling when he doesn't have the nuts. He said on the 'Rounders' DVD (commentary), he wouldn't have gone broke to KGB with the 999AA, but c'mon. There's no way he just calls the small bet on the river, and there's no way he folds to the all-in raise.

You have to go broke here. Even if you know he has KK, even if he tells you "hey I have KK", you still have to go broke. You start laying hands down like this and you will get kicked around that table all day. There is no shame in going broke with a hand like that, I have done something similar and it hurts, but thats poker. You still have a 1 outer!!

Yup. That's just one of those situations where you're going to pay him off and that's just the way it is. You can't fold boats because you're scared of quads. That's a sign that you're playing way, way, WAY too tight, and extremely paranoid to boot. Sorry that happened to you, btw.

I would have definitely gone broke but only to kick myself in the butt for not seeing it coming down. Like the man said, you gotta go broke on that hand...cuz if u start laying down hands u'd be kicked around all day.

I would look at it this way...what are the odds that 4 K's would come up against your FH? I think u did the right thing. Wink

There is no specific definition of bad beat, but yours is a bit too vague - by that definition, AK beating 22 is a bad beat. Most people have some standard (whether expressly defined or not) of just how small a chance of winning the person has to have in order to win - for most, a 40% chance to win doesn't equal a bad beat, but a 10% chance does.

they either have AK or KK. You sensed his small bet as a trap? You were right.

He didn't make that preflop call with QJ, what other 2 diamonds would he be playing?

But I probably go broke as well. 99.9% of the time i have pocket ace vision.

He didn't make the call with QJ? You haven't played much online have you Laughing It would be almosti mpossible to put him on exactly K-K because he smooth called the reraise from the button.

well short of more supporting info, such as buy-in, round, limits and an actual hand history................... You know, real content.

My opinion is based on people who actually know how to play, not how people play online. Still I stand behind my assessment. If you figured he made his hand, why give away more chips?
