Pros thoughts on this?

I read something on this awhile back and can't remember where it was. It's sticking in my mind, drawing to a hand in razz is better than the made hand? I know thats probably wrong, too many hours OT.

I'd buy a Howard video on Razz or Horse.

It was in Hellmuths book. The best drawing hand is favored over a made 9 low?

Any other thoughts on beating what you see? I heard a comment a a stud event, thats the first rule, when you can't beat what you see, lay it down, does that apply as much in making the worst/lowest hand?

When does this enter into your thought process the most, with 3 cards showing? I know your thinking from the start.

from the super system book a smooth hand is a favorite over the complete rough nine unless exposed cards dictate otherwise. A made eight on 5th street is the favorite over any smooth hand on the come 8)

When you have someone board locked in Razz, you have made a hand that is better than their best possible hand. Its the equivalent of having the nuts in Hold'em - you can't lose, but you can split the pot if they have the same hand.

Lets say your opponent has [x-x]-8-9-5-K-[x], where the cards in brackets are his hole cards. His best possible hand is 8-5-3-2-A, which would occur if he had precisely A-2-3 in the hole. If you have an 8-5-3 tied or beaten, you should do whatever you can to get the most money in the pot.

The other situation you are talking about is that on fifth street, a four card wheel such as [A-2]-3-K-4 is a definite favourite over any made nine, even though the nine is currently in the lead. A four card wheel is also a slight favourite over a very rough eight made (both of these facts assume no knowledge of the exposed cards). This is one of those oft-quoted facts about Razz that rarely comes in handy.

That's explained in SS1. Generally if I see what looks like 9-8 and I have a Very Smooth King, I won't back down from the hand on 5th. I'm the favorite. However if he has a rough 8 lil more risky, and if it's Smooth 8, you wanna play carefully. He has a similar draw to you, but is a favorite to any draw, no matter how smooth. You might have the same draw or very similar, but he's already made a hand with a shot to improve. Simply

K A 2 3 4 > 9 8 x x x

K A 2 3 4 = 8 7 6 5 4

K A 2 3 4 < 8 5 3 2 A
