MY THOUGHTS

PRE FLOP: I limped with the suited ace and the pair, not the best of starting hands, but definitely playable, and the hopes of hitting a good flop .

FLOP : Dream flop, top set , nut flush draw, and really no straight draws on the board. Maybe someone can try to push a low, but with a raise and reraise in front of me, I reraise again hoping to narrow the field down to 2 instead of 4. I was pretty much shocked when everyone called.

TURN : The 5 on the turn didn't help because it ruins any shot at a low, but the board still isnt scary. At this time, I know I still have the best hand, and when its checked to me, I thought a bet here would narrow the field, which I was once again shocked they all called.

RIVER : Disaster - the 4 hits. We have a lead out bet, and two folds. This is where the problem comes in. The only hand I can see him raising on the flop, calling the reraise, calling the turn, and leading out the river is an A2.

The pot odds were huge ( I needed to call 8000 in a 96000 pot ). The problem was I couldnt put him on anything else but the wheel. I folded , lost 24000 chips, left myself with just over 8000. I did manage to finish in 7th out of 176 which wasn't bad, but this one hand cost me everything. Any thoughts ? Should I have called even though I was 99 % sure I was beat, since I had threw so much into the pot already.

I suggest capping the flop and turn, but the A2 would have stayed anyway. NOTE: I'd be wary of raising here if you fill up, good chance antman has a set here too. The lesson here, welcome to low limit O/8. Donks go crazy for the lows, so high only hands go way up in value.

That's a helluva fold. Most people auto call there. Cash game, maybe you call no matter what, but saving that big bet at a final table can make a big difference.

I say good fold.

I wouldn't call that river, cash game or not. If you knew someone had you, why blow the extra bet? He played it like any donk plays A2. In fact I'm so sure he did I'd give $500 to anyone who can prove to me that he didn't (which is impossible for anyone except Rick, so don't bother). I'd only call this bet if it was like 1:100 odds, cause 99% of the time, it's A2. But even aside from that, any jerkoff holding 62,63,64,65,67,68 has a straight too, which must be considered here as well.

Donks in low limit cash games cap with all kinds of garbage and bet with anything if checked to. That's why I'd call one bet in a cash game with a huge pot against that kind of player.

I max bet the flop when it came to me, and I was the only bet on the turn, which everyone called both times. It was too late in the tourney to give free cards, and I felt that raising the reraise on the flop should have caused someone to fold. If the 4 doesnt hit on the river, I call anything. I figured that when everyone called the flop, someone had to have an A2 . Its just a crappy way the turn and river hit. I lost 3/4 of my stack, but I just couldnt call the river. I tried to run other hands thru that he could have, but the only hand that made any sense with the betting pattern was an A2

I say good fold. putting that guy on A2 was absolutely the correct assumption, and you followed up with the correct play.
