Friends,
Just want to know if I am the only one (surely no - but!!) who has gone thru or you people have handled this better.
I am so frustrated - hence this is more for my comfort / coming back - whatever.
I know I have recd blunt comments from so many of you and I am expecting the same again.
I was playing a 12500 GTD tourney yday and was in 8th position. Top 25 ITM. 32 players left when I was dealt this hand - big slick.
I was in BB. Blinds were 800/1600. I had abt 14k+ chips. I don't remember how many limped in with just one person making it to 3200. I just called. ( I kinda of feel this could be one potential mistake I made here). Anyway I leave it to u guys to tell me.
I sometimes don't make a big raise with AK as for me that is a tricky hand to play, so usually I prefer to see the flop and then decide on putting more chips in the pot.
FLop came - AK6. One checked, one min bet, i made it a pot sized raise. One person folded and the other guy called.
Turn was a 7. He raised and I pushed, he immediately called and showed his pp - 66 (set). I was crippled.
How do u guys handle this?
If I had got this pot, I would have moved to 2nd / 3rd and could hv tried to win the tourney.
Have you been so close to winning and lost?
Pls comment.
I am feeling so down now. |

It just wasn't in the cards for you to win that hand. Most players, if not all, would've lost their stack right there, so you shouldn't let that hand get you down.
On another note...
Why are you so down after losing a single tournament? If you played within your bankroll, losing one buy-in on a hand like this is really not a big deal. |

You are right KGB. So close to winning and straight away almost out - sucks. So wanted to know if mine was a bad move - atleast at that stage or have others also been there done that types.
I hv asked this sometime back. I am getting so close and busting out on the bubble.
Y'day was so pathetic - AA lost to flush, JJJ lost to strt, 99 lost to 66 - when only a 6 can get the other person to win - he gets it on the river.
Finally all this screws up my other games. |

you were behind from the start and lost..hehe
only thing u cud have done different was to bet harder

i think this is terrible advice.. it doesnt matter what stage u r in the tournament, just because u r late in the tourney doesnt mean u can go all in with pocket 9s
let me fix your post a little
"late in tourneys pocket pairs can be valuable if you have a big stack, you can play your high pocket pairs a bit more strongly, and you can limp hoping to catch a set with lower pocket pairs if u have high M" |
