WHY NOT OFFER MORE OMAHA TOURNAMENTS?
ENERGY (more players) can be achieved in the niche market without a material increase in cost.
I’m an Omaha player. And, understandably, your site (like all sites) focus your play offering to the masses; the Hold’em player. I personally think this is short sighted. You have the engine (the poker software) so why not go after the niche market. It certainly does not detract from your hold’em offerings. It is just an additional enhancement.
1. WHY go after the NICHE market for Omaha players?
a. Because THERE IS A NEED and it is not being filled by other sites. Filling this need will cause this fervent player base to gravitate to your site.
b. Because it can be ACHIEVED INEXPENSIVELY from a marketing standpoint. You have the poker software. All you need to do is add to the games to the tournament schedule. You have Hold’em tournaments running all day and all night. Certainly you are aware the Omaha players play on the same schedule; albeit in small unit amounts. Why not make availability and capture this player base.
c. Because ENERGY causes ENERGY. If you ever walked into a live card room where they are playing at one short table; you understand the desirability of energy. When a player logs on; you must have that player’s kind of action going on in the short term. Players are fickle. They want action now; or, they drift. You want to create a reason to gather at you site; all day and all night.
d. NICHE marketing BUILDS STABILITY at the site. You must fight against being a one-way business. You must think of each segment of the business as a profit center. If you can develop a good plan for Omaha; then, why not use the same kind of plan for 7 card stud, or, some other related poker game. You must always have a plan in the background for growth. And, you must continue to test the marketability of each plan.
2. What is an EASY plan for growth in the Omaha poker market?
a. Make OMAHA TOURNAMENTS AVAILABLE ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT at EVERY HOUR. You know this works. You already do it for Hold’em poker.
1). Entry level Omaha TOURNAMENTS should be offered every hour during the 24 hour period. I’d initially set it up with $2.00 feeder games. I’d set up a schedule that gave a good mix to all the Omaha players. I’d recommend the following $2.00 games be rotated and offered every hour.
1. Omaha HL8 PL
2. Omaha High PL
3. Omaha HL8 Limit
4. Omaha High Limit
5. Omaha HL8 NL
6. Omaha High NL
2). THEN, as the site develops playing patterns; the site modifies and expands the entry cost amount. The site knows that a measurable increase of business occurs as the European player comes into the night hours. The site knows that you start to gather unit player momentum increases as the US evening Eastern Time Zone starts to come on and that market tends to build as you go across the time zones to the Pacific Time Zone.
a. As the niche poker play gains energy; the site should then BUILD/EXPAND the entry fee offerings to $5.00; $10.00; $20.00 and one larger prime time game (about 1800 hours ET) based on playing patterns.
b. However, the site must always offer the ENTRY LEVEL games at every hour. This is where you develop the new players. You MUST HAVE NEW Omaha Poker PLAYERS ENTERING THE GAME to take care of the attrition. You mindset must always be on the gathering and development of new players. This is where the area of growth will always be. This is where the energy begins.
c. A site must have CONSISTENCY in time of day with game offerings. This develops player habits. If they know their game of preference will be available at a certain time of day; they will seek you out. A poker player is always looking for action in their game of preference. If you provide that action; you will start to gain that energy. Energy breeds energy.
3). When the poker site software is expanded to encompass R&A, I would add this option to the rotation of entry level Omaha poker offerings.
3. “If you build it, they will come”. One marketing area that is missed at all sites is the development of the many niche markets. If a site can step up and accommodate the newer player with numerous and affordable tournaments; that site will develop growth.
So, WHY NOT OFFER MORE OMAHA TOURNAMENTS? Why not take a shot? The cost is minimal and the rewards can be great.
As an Omaha player, I’d appreciate the action.
Thank you.

| Well no matter where you play omaha and at any level, you will always have the idiots calling as dogs and winning, I am tired of it. I am moving to a site with Crazy Pineapple. |

I have to disagree. It makes the low chasing bottom feeders think a little bit.
All in preflop isn't usually very common. I am talking about both ring and mtts. |

Personally I would love to let people chase the low in an Omaha hi game. |
