Played live today at a local casino. I was waiting for a stud8/ob or an Omaha table to open up. Only thing they had open right away was some 2-4 LHE tables(3-6 was a huge wait). I jumped in on one just figuring to play a litle bit before I got called. About the 4th hand I get KK UTG. No reads yet at the table, I raise naturally, get 2 callers, can't recall the exact flop but no flush or str8 draws yet, no paired board and no overs to my K's. So far so good. I bet them all the way, an Ace comes on the river, guy ends up beating me with AJo. He Didn't even have anything at all till then. I think I lost more in that hand than I lost playing both Omaha and Stud ob/8 today. It is the very short run but it kind of makes me wonder, since I usually have very limited time to play LHE live(1-2 hrs at a time) maybe I should concentrate more on other games with less swings. I know I know, acoording to SSHE, this is exactly the kind of table you want to be at with crappy play but it never seems to happen the way that I think that it will as far as the long run of things because I never am playing for long stretches I guess. I checked my limited live play stats and by far the game that i am doing the worst in as far as losses is LHE. All my other games seem to be holding their own except for LHE. Funny but I feel that this is one of my better games but I may have to re-examine that I think. We're not talking huge downswings here but minor losses. I would love to move up to 4-8 and higher but I want to make sure that I can beat the lowers first.

I've noticed that, for the most part, online LHE games are very different from live ones. It seems like a lot of live 3-6 games play like a .25-.50 cent game online. The long run can be a very long one indeed in those loose action games and there isn't a whole lot of poker to be learned from playing in them. There is plenty of money to be made however.

As for me and my losing streak, it's over. I've rebuilt my bankroll to where it was before I started losing. I would like to thank deadmoney for the advice about being more selective when cold calling raises. I realized that when I am winning I tend to call raises with more suited connector hands and play the draws aggressively, often against the wrong opponents. I also tend to three bet with small pairs and more Aces when I am winning, hands that are often dominated. I really did run into a lot of tough hands over the weekend but I believe that was a statistical anomoly. I shouldn't run into too many more flush over flush hands. Not enough to break me anyways.

playing against strong opponents gets you a lot of respect but not a lot of money. i'd rather say forget the respect and go for the money right now. i'm within striking distance of $1,200 again.

Hi! I'm glad I found this thread. I have been going through the same thing lately. I play very low stakes and MTT online, but I really prefer playing live. My local casino only has 3-6 or 6-12 and higher Limit. So I usually end up playing 3-6. Through tournaments and some other play I had worked my bankroll to about $2000. 3-6 was usually a great game for me. Most days I would see a nice profit, or at least break even. However the last 4-5 sessions have been terrible. One session was just a crazy manic game with pots being capped everywhere, etc. I was hitting nothing at all. Then yesterday I played for about 12 hours. The game wasn't too crazy, but again I could hit nothing. One other lady at our table hit everything, it's like she couldn't do anything wrong. I tried tightening up. That didn't work. I tried losening up, etc. Eventually I'd get a run of a few good cards, but then right back to nothing. I finally had to cut my loses and just head home.

Because of the last few sessions my bankroll has dropped to about 1400, still ok, but I want to get a handle on this. I'm now rereading SSHE and going over some of my play to see what I can improve. I definitely think bad cards contributed, but I'm sure my game can be improved.

When someone else at the table is having that kind of a streak, is there anything that can be done, short of just leaving? I'd love to hear some of your opinions or experiences.

Thanks for listening!

when another player is getting hit by the deck you can do yourself a favor and fold.

typical losing streak for me is 30-70 BBs. Then usually my hands start hitting again and variance bites those other guys in the ***. Also when a losing streak starts to hit the 50BB mark I usually stop b/c it's A. out of tilt and because of that B. my game has faultered b/c I'm not thinking str8.
