I discovered razz on ftp kind of on accident. I clicked on a tournament without knowing what the hell it was, and just kinda won it. That was about a month ago, and my boyfriend hasn't let me play it for real money yet (not until I get my chops) so I'm practicing in the fake money sections. I've done pretty well so far, but I'm glad you guys have this forum for it. all of your comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

The one thing that frustrates me is that it isn't played much on the internet besides ftp, and there aren't many strategy websites. I will probably pick up the sklansky book eventually.

Though I enjoy NLHE, there's something about razz I have a knack for. I think razz players are unique and of much more analytical minds than I usually find here. Thanks Full Tilt for RAZZ!!

razz is more like stud always watch and count your low up cards so you know your drawing to a stronger hand with better odds. Its more of a game of numbers with a little on reads. I love it and play the tournaments.

As pokey said razz is probably the most mathematical and analytical of the games. IMO, a player can only be so good at it before he/she cannot be any better, but believe me, I am not quite there yet.

I stick to my basis that Razz is too luck based because of the personal cards. Sorry Razz fans! Very Happy

I disagree. Although the odds can so quickly change and the frustration of getting A 2 3 accompanied by K K K K is possible, it really is a game for the better players. If you go to www.ftpfan.com and look at the top 100 players, they are all very dangerous and all have a great shot to win the tournaments. (Yes I'm one of them at 55th, shameless plug). Razz is very mathmatical and requires great reads. Am I dead showing 8-7 against A-2, if I can hit this 7 can I break my opponent, can I execute this bluff showing 3 babies knowing I have a full house and can't beat King Low. A lot of the general poker skills needed in any game are needed for Razz. A lot of people think it's a soft game. If you know what you are doing it can become a soft game. If you run into a solid player, be prepared to drop a few bucks. But I think the play chips are great for players learning the game. Quick story for ya, I first stumbled upon razz myself abut 9 months ago on Full Tilt when I first started to play. All the holdem tables were full at least the Sit and Go's so I played this game that was open called Razz. I saw it briefly on ESPN and gave it a shot. I had no idea what I was doing, but I learned the rules and kept figuring out which situations were good and which werent. On about the 3rd try I won the SNG and 2 more after that. Then I made my first deposit a couple months later. Played cash razz, got killed again. Learned even more about the game and in Febuary I felt my game was solid. Entered and won my 1st MTT $10 Razz. Since then I've won 2 more MTT's as well as a 2nd and 3rd place finish in 2 others. It's just discovering situations, which cards are favorable, and general poker skill. I think play chip razz is a great start and I wish ya all the success in this crazy game. Best of luck and hope to see ya soon for the cash!

Check out Doyle Brunson's "Super Systems". David Sklanski did a section on razz. It's a lot of great information.

i thought there was an out of print "sklansky on razz" that was re-done as part of "sklansky on poker"?
