Hey guys I was just looking for some information on poker tracker from those that have it.
I am strickly a cash game player and i've heard that poker tracker is a pretty good tool im just pretty ignorant on what it does exactly.
So if anyone could tell me:
1.) how it will help me
2.) how much it cost and is it worth it
3.) is it going to slow down my computer
4.) if i'm already doing well without and have been for over 2 years now do I really need it?
5.) if it is something that would benefit me where do I get it?
Thanks guys.

seeing that i hijacked your last thread i thought id give a little serious input here
poker tracker will track all your data, profit/loss, hands u played and how well u did with them etc
it costs in the region of $50-55 i believe
it depends how fast/slow your computer is
depends how well you're doing but it sure will be useful to track everything

| I dont know about poker traker, but Poker Office tracks all players that you have played against. it stores their data for every hand you play against them. yes, the data includes their win/loss but more importantly it tracks the % go to flop, preflop raise % etc. I assume poker tracker is pretty much the same. |

I tried the 1000 hand free trial for poker tracker and it kept track of everyone at the table while I was playing. I know that at one time you could open additional tables and poker tracker would datamine those for you--I've heard that at least one site has rigged things so poker traker only works if you are playing at the table. Don't know how this was done.
It is my view that the better you get the more pokertracker (or pokeroffice) is likely to help you. If you have major holes in your game a bit of reading and some moderately honest self evaluation will help you find them pretty quickly.
But once you've closed the big leaks you have to start hunting for the small leaks and those are harder to see without lots of data--which is what PT/PO do for you.
Maybe you like playing QJo and think it is a winning hand for you. PT will tell you how much you've won/lost with QJo over time (the time you've had PT running).
If you are purely a recreational player who is beating the micros and has no interest in moving up you probably don't care about this level of detail and study and can probably pass. But if you are a more serious player who has dreams of growing the roll and playing the bigger games then PT is worth it.
I haven't tried PO because it just recently added support for FT and I haven't had a chance to download the updated version. But I think you should download both and take advantage of the 1000 hand trial period each offers (at least I think PO offers a 1000 hand trial).
1000 hands won't actually give you enough data to make any changes, but it will give you a taste. |

It will log all of your hands played as well as the hands of everyone else at your table...There are free addons like Game Time Plus that will overlay other players stats on the tables you are playing at
2.) how much it cost and is it worth it
55 Bucks....I think it is worth 10 times that, if you take the time to use it
3.) is it going to slow down my computer
Not when you are using it when playing poker
4.) if i'm already doing well without and have been for over 2 years now do I really need it?
Yes...What is your BB/100 with KQo or A10s from LP? I bet you don't know, but poker tracker will tell you...How often do you blind steal? How often do you defend blinds?
5.) if it is something that would benefit me where do I get it?
www.pokertracker.com
Thanks guys.

It data mines all of the stats of the players that you are playing with...
There are free programs like Game Time + that you can use in conjunction with Poker tracker to overlay a players stats on the poker screen...
For my overlay I have:
VP$IP
PFR%
WTSD%
BB/100
Gives you a heck of an idea of how a player plays at the table... |

Go to the pokertracker website and go to their forums...
I am at work, so I cannot not give you a better explanation without having PT open infront of me...

You open PT and under file, look for auto import of the site you want to import hands from. Then you need to select the HH file that you saved on your computer. (If you did not, whatever site you want to track be sure to start saving HHs.). Then click force import. If you played tournaments, there is a "trophy" icon in the top bar to view your tournament data and a "ring" icon to view your ring game data. |

dcoles,
You can download it and try it for free before you have to register it. It will let you store 1000 ring game hands or 30 tournaments for free. After that, you need to purchase a registry key to unlock it. |

| I think it's a great tool. I've had it for about a month now, and I'm really noticing a difference in the way I play. The key is to use the stats and analyze your play. This definetly requires some reading, but the "help" section is pretty useful. So, if you are willing to learn how to use Poker Tracker, it's going to help. |
