Hi everyone. I'm new to Stud 8, and I've been playing supertight at FTP in the 10/20 game (just to get a feel for the cards). How often do most of you guys see 4th street, when teh table is loose?
I've been playing really tight, often going around 20 hands without seeing 4th street, because everyone else plays it. Basically, I'm asking how flexible hand selection needs to be in thsi game. Thanks everyone. |

Well, it's 2 for ante and 10/20 (this is play chip, because I'm too poor to play for real money). |

| You may consider reading some articles and or a book on stud8 if you already haven't. I personally like the section in Super System 2(SS2) on stud hi lo 8ob. CHeck it out. It is a good solid starting point for this particular game |

I remember a few times where I've thrown away 30-40 in a row. Tight is right. |

| I also play fairly tigh tin stud8. So many don't know how to play it that to me it makes more sense to play tight and wait for stronger starting hands. That said, I am slowly expanding my starting hands a bit to be less predictable. This is one of the problems in all of my gamesI play. Too predictable. Tight is right but predictablity is pretty obvious afgter a while as well. |

In a high stake sgame you're right. But low stakes:
A. hardly anyone would notice
B. Players come and go quickly. |

amen to that! You shouldn't be too concerned about giving out information or being predictable in low stakes. Just stick to your game plan, play tight and eventually you'll stack them up. Low stakes is a lot about the action, the cards. Everybody minds their own cards and isnt too aware of the types of hands opponents play in my experience... |

| Sounds like you have a good start. Dont loosen up your starting requirements just because the table is looser. Thats just a recipe for losing money. |

Be One with the FORCE.........When the time is right...............trust your instincts and go for broke..........make em let ya see that fourth street.
Better to die one death as a Contender then a thousand deaths, wondering what might have been if only you had gotten four or five cards to play with.
Bottom line: Experiment and take notes if you need to.........all you got to lose is play chips right now........right?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hand history of my last 35 hands of Hi Lo Stud
- Street.........Saw Saw/Total
- Fourth..........35.......97%
- Fifth.............33.......92%
- Sixth............27.......75%
- Seventh.......23.......64%
-
- Showdown...15.......42%
- Showdown
- Split.......3.......20%.......8%
- Scoop.....6.......40%.......17%
I ended up scooping six hands and splitting three and my poke went from 7000 chips to over 30000. Make of that what you will or what you can. Too many variables to make a fast and hard rule about the fourth st.......my opinion.
Your mileage may vary and no guarantee is hereby granted or implied. Contest is not valid in Vermont or Michigan. We reserve the right to end this offer without written notice.
Many will enter................few will win..........Fulltilt employees and their families are not eligible to win.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Believe me........the very best learned how by not only studying their opponents good habits but by falling down a time or two......getting back up and taking a lesson well learned with them to the next game.......THE VERY BEST!!!
If it's good enough for them.........it's good enuf for the likes of us.....eh?
Respects.......Winter

| i love the way the low card is only 25c instead of 50c and u can bring it in all the way up to $1 helps u protect a hand a lot better than when someone already has 50c invested so they WONT GET OUT when u make it $1 |
