|
this hh is from a great heads up sng i played tonight that lasted nearly 45 min, the blinds got up to 80-160, i had the other guy down between 600-900 chips early on & for awhile but he came back, then i was down under 1000 later on & i came back & knocked him down to 10 chips when my kq beat his ak when i caught a queen on the turn & won 2 hands later anyway- this hand was my favorite of the whole sng, i guess a bluff is only a good one if it works & perhaps my opponent held nothing but a draw like me but still its worth a post (my opponent played very straight forward, he didnt bluff much & he wasnt a calling station so i knew i could bluff him on some hands & this one just felt like a good hand to do it with the texture of the board)

| You almost committed a terrible sin losing most of your stack in a nothing pot. It seems like he just had a draw and missed to me. |

| yeah, im thinking he picked up a heart draw on the turn or maybe he had something like 3rd pair. i know it was risky but by the time the river came i knew i could only win if i bet as im sure he couldve beat 10 high. |

| yea, the pot wasn't worth bluffing at... only 800 in the pot, and you were committing a lot of your stack... next time you try and bluff, make sure the pot is well worth the risk... |

I once pulled off an 'Action' Dan Harrington squeeze play with 73o.
It felt good. Bluffing feels good. |

I don't understand the sentiment that she bluffed at a "nothing" pot. The pot had 800 in it and there was only 3000 chips total at the table. In other words, more than 1/4 of the total chips were there for the taking. She risked an additional 400 chips for her only chance of winning the hand. 400 would leave her with 700 chips if she lost, enough to still put pressure on her opponent and battle back.
Furthermore, bluffs are by definition risky endevours. Perhaps the very fact that she was risking 1/3 of her stack is why her opponent folded. |

I put him on a weak ace. And I knew he wouldn't risk his tourney life unless he had a huge hand.
But I think the real explanation of my play was I went temporarily insane. lol |
