Hi everyone,
just a little memo about people complaining when they get bad beats... Hey people wake up it is part of poker. Some of you will say that the site is rigged , hum, if your in a real live trny and get bad beat or you also going to say that the dealer is rigged ??? We see many bad beat in real live trny also,, Have anyone seen the heads up championship 2005,,, Hellmuth got bad beat twice,,, that life.
Instead of calling who ever bad beats you,,, ****, morron, stupid... ,,, just say gg and move on. Poker is a game of strategy n luck,, just stop blaming the programs cause i'm sure that in real trny you do not blame the dealer. |

| In theory, there is no reason to complain about luck, because over time, the good players win and the bad players lose. But, in a short span of time, a bad beat can cost anyone a lot of money. |

Unless the person is a jerk afterwards, I don't belittle their bad play. I used to. Bad beats are tough, but I find it's better to shut up, and take notes.
You should never discourage bad play. |

| True world class players take bad beats and move on to the next hand. It happens and it's going to keep happening and there is nothing you can do about it. So keep playing you best game and don't go on tilt because of it. |

| Complaining for people who are not jerks is a stress release. Unfortunately most people who complain are jerks and I do not think their complaining really helps them out much in refocusing their game. |

Just a quick note on bad beats for those who say that its only online that these happen.
I was playing a live tourny at the weekend, in which in won £360 , and player 1 raised to about 3xBB(300) with 1500 chips.
Everyone folds except the BB (player 2) who calls, also with 1500
Flop comes A K 5.
Player 1 raises 300, player 2, raises 300 and player 1 goes all in.
Player 2 thinks and calls.
Player 1 turns over A K - 2 pair
Player 2 turns over Q 5 - Pair of 5's
*******************************
Turn - 5
River - 5
Quads. Unbelievable |

I'm not sure what that random all in was about, but I'm glad he did it. I hit aces against Ak again a few hands later, then again against JJ. Someone pushed preflop ahead of me all three times and they all payed out. It was awsome (free money that required 0 skill to obtain). I went on to win, and the guy in this hand that pushed with AK did a great job to take second.
Goes to show. Bad beats suck, but only if you forget about the good ones. |

| same thing used to happen w/ me BOYNAMEDSUE... i would mock a person and tear them after i took a bad beat, but now i have learned to take it all in stride and let it go b/c if i make the correct decisions every time, i will win more often than not |

There are 4 reasons I try not to get angry when I take a bad beat:
1. Only you can cause yourself to go on tilt. When I found out Howard Lederer was into Zen Buddhism, I thought I'd give it a try. I’m always up for trying something new, and the book he recommends, ‘Zen, in the Art of Archery’ was an easy read, (so I thought). It’s 81 pages, but you’re gonna want to read it more than once. I don’t want to give anything away, but long story short, the book can help you deal with bad beats.
2. I have respect for anyone who can make a living playing poker, but there's just something about old school pros. They are so cool. Guys like Lederer, Harrington, Reese, Seidel, Brunson, and TJ.
One thing I notice about these guys is they never get excited when they take a bad beat (the same is true when they win a big pot). Maybe it's because they've been playing so long, they've seen everything. I dunno, there's something intimidating about a guy who takes a bad beat, and doesn't flinch. He stays calm, and posts his blind or ante for the next hand like nothing has happened.
3. You never want to discourage bad play. You win money in poker when your opponents make mistakes. It makes absolutely no sense to be happy when your opponent makes a bad call, and you win a big pot, but get angry when your opponent makes a bad call, and outdraws you. The world doesn't revolve around you. Expecting to win them all is asking too much. It’s better just to keep quiet, and take notes for future reference.
4. It makes you look like a baby. |

Other day in a home game, i went all in on 25 hoping to take the blinds. Guy calls me on K5 after alot of thinking and talking, saying i maybe had KJ,KQ,any ace (i was shortstacked.) and he also said he hoped he had live cards. Board came 2xx2x
Obviously, my home game was rigged. |

I agree gibbygib,
People think they're taking more bad beat than they actually are, because they don't know what a bad beat is. AK losing to QJ is not a bad beat. It's only 2-1 dog.
Beats need to be runner-runner to qualify as bad beats. |

I don't think that's the case.
Playing in a .05/.1 game and I get KK, and the flop comes down 4-8-8. I reraise an earlier raiser, and get reraised by the guy to the right of me when it gets back to him, I go all in and he calls with AA. So basically I'm looking for one of 2 Kings, and got it on the turn.
Not runner runner, but certainly a bad beat for him. |
