i forgot full tilt is heavily invested in these pros. but i believe full tilt has what it takes to be as big as party poker and will survive on foriegn business alone. also most of the people here dont actually get to play with the pros. anyone who doesnt have hundreds of thousands to throw around isnt gonna sit with the top pros. yes i know they play some tourneys and small stakes but not enough to make a huge diffrence. i think full tilt will say farewell and express its deep sorrow about losing us but will continue moving forward without us. just my opinion.

Just signed the petition and wrote my Congressional representative (who supported this crap). This is the content of my letter:

"I am writing this letter in strong opposition of your voting in support of the ban on internet gaming. Your office has chosen to support legislation which diminishes our civil liberties. This legislation is very one-sided in that it allows exceptions for state-regulated gaming. It was very deceitful how it was signed in as an attachment to an important port security bill. This bill will have serious repercussions for those that voted for this bill. I will not continue to vote for a Congress, Senate or Presidency that continues to try to erode my personal freedoms."

I would strongly suggest that anyone who signs the petition should also consider writing their representative in Congress/Senate to show their opposition.

Your aims are worthy and good but there is no point making any sort of a protest because the powers that be DO NOT CARE.

If your joke of a government could bring in taxation from online gambling then i'm quite sure there wouldn't be a problem. As it is however they see money going out of the states and overseas or into the pockets of good players in the states and they can't get their cut so like a spoiled child they stamp their feet and screw everybody over because they can.

I live in England so the ban won't have the same effect on me as it will on most of you but i'm still mightily pissed off about the whole situation.

Protest if you want. Pretend it will make a difference. Maybe it will. I doubt it very much.

This just adds to the already HUGE impression in this country and all over the continent of Europe that your esteemed leader is an idiot. A man quite happy to take his cut from the tobacco and alcohol industry even though they are both addictions that actually cause physical harm. A man who thinks that a good way to stop Islamic extremism is to carpet bomb Islamic countries. Under Clinton America had enemies just as it always has done but now i'm very sorry to say EVERYBODY hates your country and it's joke policies that either make the world a more dangerous place or stop people from gambling WITH THEIR OWN MONEY.

Sorry to get so political but I am just so angry about the way we all get pushed around by the people WE vote into office be it in America or Britain. Thankfully we have the European Court Of Human Rights here and I don't think they would ever allow such a ban to happen in Europe.

Screw you George Bush and your Republican friends. May you all die a slow and painful death.

Finally if the ban doesn't extend to online poker and only covers other gambling then that will be great. I still wish a gruesome death upon good old Dubya.

I agree with everything you said, And, except that the petition is worthless. Although it might not do any good, it takes 5 seconds to fill it out, and certainly doesn't hurt to try.

I'm with you And, I hate the turn this country has taken. Bush as made his peers rich and doomed the future of this country. I guess you all should be grateful, the EU will step in to take our place. However, as Strasse said the petition is FAR from useless. Under the first amendment, we have the right to petition the government, and subsequently overturn their mistakes if they do not fall into line with public sentiment. Unfortunately, I doubt this one will gain the couple hundred thousand signatures it needs to actually being the process of overturning this, but I sure as hell will try to get as many people to sign just in case.

just signed in around 17something, in the half minute it took me to sign 4 others signed so it is still going strong.
Egis, thanks for the example of a well written and respectable letter, i plan on writing something along those lines to my local "representatives", and I hope others write their congressmen and senators as well.
