Whoa, whoa, whoa peoples. A little perspective...the regular season is 1/16 done, it's a bit early to be crowning the Dolphins Super Bowl XL champs, or sticking a fork in the Ravens, Jets, Vikings, Eagles, etc. All things considered I would prefer starting 1-0 rather than 0-1, but there's a lot of football still to be played. We learned a few things but it's not as though all the pieces of the playoff puzzle can now be magically fit into place.
Although I guess trash talking is easier when your team has won 100% of their games, leads their division, and on pace to go 16-0 than when they're 6-10 at the end of the year! |
I totally agree. Everyone always jumps to conclusions after the first week. Pro analysts included. I did predict the Dolphins will do well this season but that has by no means come true. They won one game lol. I am surprised how many TV analysts all of the sudden are giving them lots of respect especially considering San Fran beat St Louis in week one also. I'm happy to see the Dolphins do well and they played how I thought they would. I do think they are for real and it's scary considering how many penalties/turnovers they had. If they played mistake free I can't imagine what the score may have been. If I had to predict right now I would say the Dolphins go 10-6. I know that's going to meet criticism but that's how I see it. Time will tell. Again they were my sleeper pick not my out and out pick, but I still think they will be a very good team this year and seriously be in the playoff hunt.

Two weeks in, and we still have no idea who will be SB champs come February...but we DO know a few things:
- Perhaps it was premature to anoint Miami and San Francisco as "the real deal." Neither will likely finish above .500, but neither will finish 2-14.
- Perhaps it was a bit early to leave the Eagles for dead.
- Perhaps it was a bit early to assume the Patriots will coast to yet another Super Bowl win. By the same token, one loss doesn't mean they will finish 7-9.
- A decent defense can't make up for not having an NFL-caliber QB. [Ravens]
- Turnovers kill! If your QB averages five turnovers per week, including four interceptions, it will be very hard to win games. [Vikings] As a corollary, maybe Randy Moss was that important. However...
- Even an all-world talent like Randy Moss can't cover for not having a defense. [Raiders]
- Michael Vick's passing skills are average at best. Still, he doesn't really have to be that good of a passer, as the Falcons have a strong running game and solid defense.
- Brett Favre is really showing his age, and it's possible that the Packers are, in fact, that bad.
- No one questions the Colts' offensive weapons, and if their defense can continue to play well, then they could make things interesting in the playoffs. Home-field advantage is still a huge factor in their chances of advancing in the playoffs, though, as they haven't demonstrated the ability to win outdoor, cold-weather playoff games.
Week two is in the books! All teams still are mathematically able to make the playoffs, and win their division! Class dismissed! |

Actually it's still to early to know any of those things. Except of course that every team is still able to make the playoffs and win their division. |

| skins suck... they won't finish above .500... they start off 2-0 or 3-1, but then they learn that they not only can't beat the good teams, but teams within their division... gibbs is past his prime, and i dont think he'll ever take this team to the playoffs again... |

Just wanted to update you guys on the Dolphins progress:
Miami 2-1
New England 2-2
Buffalo 1-3
NY Jets 1-3
Miami is now first place in the AFC East. They haven't done anything big yet but they're off to a good start. |

| How's everyone's teams doing? Who's impressed you? Who let you down? Is everyone sticking with their original superbowl picks? |
