I dig everybodies experiments on the forum so I came up with one of my own. This is how it goes....

I am going to deposit some money on Full Tilt and then I am going to play different games. I will limit myself to Hold-em, Omaha, Omaha 8, Stud, Stud High Low and Razz and i will only play in cash games or tournaments for cash. No more of those games for livestock.

I will start with whatever I can afford (translation: whatever the wife will let me use) and play till I am dead or bored, whichever comes first. My goal is to have fun and enjoy myself sometimes and sometimes to play serious poker and win money.

So the rules are...

#1 - you gotta deposit some money (any AFFORDABLE amount)

#2 - you gotta play some poker (any limits, any style)

#3 - you gotta have some fun

so who wants to try my experiment with me?

Other than disrespecting some of the other forum members, what is the point of this?

the only experiments you should participate in dumwaldo, is scientific experiments. preferably the ones they use on ass-end of the spectrum of life.

the point in it is to remind everybody that some of us play poker for fun and thats an important element of the game. If you are not enjoying it, then you probably shouldnt be doing it.

As far as the respect levels, I do not think I said anything disrespectfull about anybody or towards anybody but the thought does strike me that I probably wouldnt be to concerned about it anyway since I have never seen much respect towards me, from any of the regulars here. See respect is one of those things you have to give to get.

Just look at the asswad post right after yours and tell me how can you attack me about respect?

Glass houses and all that garbage...

I guess I should reply to this since I am obviously involved in some of the activities you are targeting. I don't see where you get the idea that just because some of us are setting goals and giving ourselves fun challenges means that we don't have fun playing poker. That couldn't be farther from the truth. And honestly, we aren't going out recruiting people to follow our examples. If you don't like it, and you never get bored with the same day to day grind of playing the same levels years at a time, thats perfectly fine. There is nothing at all wrong with playing that way, because it is a wonderful hobby. Maybe I have A.D.D. or something, but I need to be constantly giving myself new challenges and goals, not just in poker, but in everything I do competitively.

It is not fair at all to say that I don't have fun playing poker. I have studied poker immensely, and played countless hours since I first discovered the game 3 years ago. No matter what experiments or challenges I try to embark on, that will never change.

And as far as people disrespecting people on the forum, I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you were just trying to make a point. I heeded that point, and I am saying what I have to say. I try to never disrespect anyone on the forum and I hope I haven't done that to you in the past or in this post.

I didn't mean to imply that you intentionally were disrespecting anyone dumwaldo, so i apoligize if it came off that way. But your sarcastic post implied that you were mocking the experiments that others were doing. What would make you think that any and all players on this forum do not play poker for fun? Personally, i think the main motivation for some of their experiments is because they are having "fun" doing them.
Just saying be careful how you word things.
If i was Pokit or DC or any others doing experiments, i would not have been very happy with your post.

its hard to say that your comments don't mean to be disrespectful, considering the fact about that whole thing about you cracking on the forum regs who played in the MBJ tourney, saying that anyone you beat by simply sitting out was an idiot. its hard to give you the benefit of the doubt. if someone who's known to be a joking kind of person, posts something similar to yours, perhaps they don't catch the same flack that you do. with them we would know not to take the comments in a negative way. with you, all i'm saying is i wasn't so sure...

Allow me to disrespect people. I like this experiment because it's one of the minority where the OP doesn't really just want to tell you how successful he's been, shrouded behind this sham of an "experiment" where he asks other people to try and duplicate his heroic feats. Alas, THOSE threads don't piss people off, but this one does. Go figure.

I would take disrepect by the above post more then the original. There's a difference between making a joke and being a prick.

Well, the experiments he seems to be targeting are the ones in which DC11GE, myself, and others are involved in. I have discussed attempting and being involved in three different little "challenges". My HU SNG ladder challenge, my $10 to $1000 in 24 hour challenge, and DC's busto experiment. If you read any of the threads, I dont see how you come to the conclusion that we are gloating and bragging at all. If anything, we are admitting our weaknesses and how hard the challenges actually are. These are just little things that make the game a little more fun, and I don't understand why people have a problem with that.

I did not intend to offend anybody with this post. I was just trying to bring a little levity to the forum and remind everybody it is supposed to be more fun than frustration.

That's it, no hidden meanings or alternate agendas and most certainly no intent to offend anybody.
