Seems like a completely useless thread. I saw no concrete evidence that any of the alleged bots were actually bots. Just a million posts by people who wanted to jump on the bandwagon. The occasional response posted from PP never verified anything about bots being found (posted about once every 300 posts).
Here is what I mean, someone distorts a reply from PP and says "Party confirmed there are bots" but go on and read the actual letter, it does not. Anyway, bring on the bots, it will be easier to take big bets off these brainless opponents.

I just got a mail from Party confirming that there are bots. but that they suck:
Thank you for contacting us.
We are aware of the several BOT Poker Programs in the market that are designed to allow a program to play poker. These programs run independently on a player's computer and so there is no foolproof method to detect and prevent their usage completely. They are designed to play poker as a human, therefore it is not possible to detect a BOT program through the game play.
Our principle aim has always been to provide a safe and fair gaming environment. On this we will not compromise.
We are committed to detect and prevent software programs such as these from playing on our site. Such programs are often designed to send information about cards or players to an external program.
We prohibit this practice at our site and will use all necessary methods.(including but not limited to, screen scraping or reading the list of currently running programs on a player's computer)
It should be noted that although BOTs are frowned upon because they are computer programs they actually play poker at a level that is considered below average to that of a human player.
Do write back to us for further assistance. We are available 24/7 to assist you.
Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site!

If you read through the 60 pages of replys on that thread, (sigh), there is a link from the guy that was 'spearheading' the public interest and following up by calling to see what was going on. That link leads to a post (60 more pages later) where he says:
| Quote: |
I called yesterday and once again was told that Olivia Cooper was on a "one-day leave". I called again tonight and she was again on a "one-day leave". I don't know why I didn't pursue it further last night, I was just too tired.
So tonight they tried to feed me the same thing about Olivia Cooper, who has been mysteriously absent for the past 6 days. I asked to speak to Olivia's supervisor and was granted that request. Her supervisor informed me of a few things as to why the investigation has taken so long:
1) There are a lot of accounts involved
2) They had contacted all of the accounts under investigation to explain their style of play
3) They had only received e-mails back from a couple of accounts but wanted to give them a fair amount of time to respond
He told me that the investigation has been escalated to higher management and a decision will be made in... YOU GUESSED IT! 2-3 days! |
All we really seem to have confirmation of is that there are many investigations of at least some of the accounts mentioned. As well, we know it's hard to get info from PartyPoker.
It sounds like -- and wisely so -- PartyPoker now makes sure that nothing concrete is ever actually written or said to confirm that bots were playing on their system. Just because they're stonewalling doesn't make it true, nor does it make it false, of course.
I am inclined to believe that the group of names mentioned were indeed bots though, based on the descriptions of behavior and other similarities. If they were bots, it doesn't say much for PP's ability to catch them.

| Nope, still no evidence. I'm not going to take some forum poster's "word" on an alleged phone conversation that may or may not have taken place. Anyway, I hope people are using bots, I just don't see it. Lastly, how would you tell teh difference between a gambling addict that likes the same seat and a bot anyway? |

I thought the biggest reason they suspected it was bots was because of the betting patterns. They'd bet unrealistically again and again and again (like betting 1500 of their 1525 stack, then folding to the flop if it wasn't favorable,) but the reason they did that is so they wouldn't get picked up as bot software *it's somewhere in that huge mess, damned if I'll try to go back and find it.*
That being said, Bots would be the most efficient at SNG games. Hell, you can have no skill and use pushbot tactics to easily profit on the turbo $22's at party. It's been proven that even the "rookie" tactics in the Kill Phil book are enough to have a positive ROI at the $11's. I'm certain someone could program a bot to mimic that.
Yes, they could be exploited by people that realize that they're bots, but those bots would definitely destroy most of the fish at those SNG's. However, the bigger threat are not the bots, but the bad PR that might surface if people started fearing Party Poker and marking it as bot territory. |

That's a big pile of horse manure.
No customer service department would discuss the account of another person, and they damn sure wouldn't reveal their name.
The most they would do is say:
"A crackdown was made today on several accounts running illegal software. Their accounts have been suspended/cancelled." |
