Your local newspaper's headline might read "Clonie Cloning Content?" Wink

Basically, Clonie Gowen's "Tips from the Pros" entry for April 10th was plagiarized almost word for word from an entry on the pocketfives website. Full Tilt has deleted the tip from the index page (there is now no April 10th tip), so you can't find the tip anymore. I still have the email from my trash, so here is the first paragraph of "Clonie Gowen's" tip:

Quote:
Re-buy tournaments are my favorite types of tournaments to play. I am not much of a gambler away from poker; I rarely play table games like craps or blackjack, and I never bet on sports. My tournament style, and overall poker style for that matter, is generally tight-aggressive, but during re-buy tournaments, I use a different strategy that is fun to play and has given me a great deal of success in the past.

Here's the original:

Pretty blatant, eh? If she were in college and got caught like this, she'd be failed.

Here's her apology: http://www.pocketfives.com/175411C2-D774-435D-A0C8-83549D626656.aspx

Yes, she apologized, but I'm still pretty disappointed at the conduct of the Full Tilt Pro. I'd be interested in what Full Tilt has to say about the situation, as she's been a poor representative of them. I mean, if she didn't write part of that article, who's to say it's really her playing on Full Tilt's tables?

In all fairness, she does say in her apology that her editor copied the tip, not her... Not that I'm defending her, or sticking up for her, or even care for that matter... I hardly read those tips anyway.

Just want to point that out.

Once a bell rings, it can't be un-rung.

Whether her editor copied that "tip" or not, it has her name on it as the author, and so it does damage her reputation. We all have to be responsible for anything that has our name on it, unless it is forged.

For the most part, I think the pro's on Full Tilt do play under their own names/avatars, but like almost everything in life, there are no guarantees that what you see is what you get--especially since you are only "seeing" your computer screen. Wink

I have no doubt that the pros play their accounts here at FTP. But c'mon. If you're gonna steal something, steal from a smaller, lesser known site than pocketfives.com.

Yeah seriousley BNS! PocketFives.com is one of the biggest forums, very huge! It's obvious someone is going to find this. Very bad move by Clonie all together, even if she has her editor doing this!!! I think the actual pros should write these, seeming that it's a tip from a PRO!!

I've also wondered about whether it's really the pros always busting out in the bottom third of every tournament I look at. I'm sure there are exceptions, but what's a $50 buy-in online tournament to somebody who'll be playing $500-$1000 stakes with his/her buddies later on in the evening?

I think that's exactly the problem - they simply don't care about the low level tournies. Also, keep in mind that everyone's out to bust them - that makes it harder to knock people off draws, get them to stop playing junk hands, and leads to LOADS of bad beats for them.
