I have been playing poker for almost a year now. I have recently gotten involved in playing tournaments at a local Indian casino. Last Monday, I made it to the final two tables, but was knocked out in shortly after arriving. Here is what happened:
I arrived at the 2nd to last table with about $9000 in chips. Blinds were up to 1000 / 2000. I was the big bling and was dealt pocket 9's. Before the flop, right before it was my time to act the guy to my right went all in. I called with my 9's. I am curious to know if the Pros would have folded this hand before seeing the flop. Please let me know what you would have done if you had been in my seat. Thanks! |

| Well, you don't have a lot of money left, it seems as though the blinds are large, and making an all-in steal raise does not seem out of the realm of possibility. Unless there were extraneous circumstances, I probably would call, though it's very possible that you are behind. |

Did he have you covered? Were there any other players in the pot?
Although <5xBB it would seemingly be a clear push.
What did the raiser showdown with, what came on the flop, etc. |

Howard, John, Erik, I got this one covered. LOL
At $9,000, you had only 2 times the blinds and antes. That's twice around the table and you're blinded away.
Given the circumstances, 99 is a blessing.
No thinking required, call!
You're a slight favourite against 2 overcards, a solid favourite against A-x, and a huge favourite against smaller pairs, or random bluffs. And if he has a higher pair, oh well. With only 2 times the blinds and antes you need lots of luck to win the tournament anyway.
Try not to let yourself get down to so little. Make a move earlier.
And pick up a copy of Harrington on Hold 'em, Volume II: The Endgame. Actually, pick up Volume I too; both are awesome books that will change the way you play tournament poker. But in Volume II he talks a lot about playing late in a tournament, when the blinds and antes are much larger in comparison to your stack then they are in the beginning of the tournament.

No problem. Your analaysis was good, but it seemed like you were spamming it or something. |

| good call, especially if you are short stacked, and the blinds so high. It does of course depend on how this guy played the rest of the tourny. But if you didn't have time to asses him then you have no clue. But short stacked, with a mid-pair...very very good call. |

| Your calling range could be pretty wide here, right play.. |

| Like others have said, 99 is one of the best things you could have hoped for. Your range here gets much worse then 99. Just push and hope. |
