_Xceptional, I agree with you about mixing it up and calling raises with a wide range of hands if you're deep enough, but I'd rather do it with 8-6 than Q-T. It makes second best hands a bit too frequently for my taste, and it's hard to play it with any confidence unless you hit a close to perfect flop, but maybe that has something to do with me being pretty new to NL cash games.
When it comes to the slow-playing thing, I just feel like screaming at the top of my lungs when people start talking about slow-playing a trips in a multi-way pot. The scary board doesn't exactly make things better. Just bet into the pre-flop raiser and hope that he has a hand that's strong enough to raise you. He probably won't think you have a ten anyway, since most people seem to think that it's impossible for someone to bet out when they flop trips. I've had people move all-in with nothing when I've bet my trips just because they think I must be bluffing. |
