Everytime I play a HORSE freeroll, I generally:
a) bust out in the Omaha phase
b) lose the majority of my chips in the Omaha phase so that I'm forced to push an all-in during the Razz phaze - during which I generally have a 50% chance of obtaining a playable stack or busting out.
c) hold steady in hold'em, lose chips in omaha, then win back twice what I lost in the next three 7card phases, then repeat.

I'm tried playing a few playchip omaha hi/lo 9-seat sit'n'gos and seem to get 3rd place fairly easily in them.

well, if its freerolls that you're playing in, i recommend playing all the omaha hands possible... you need practice, and you arent going to get any better at this game by avoiding it... work on your weaknesses, and you will become a better player as time goes along...

I'd recommend learning Omaha 8. Read "How To Win At Omaha Hi/Low Poker" by Cappelletti. Awesome book. As you can see by the total lack of posts in the O8 section on here, not a lot of interest on FT Forums. O8 is my favorite round in HORSE, I start to drool when 6, 7, and yes sometimes 8 players are seeing the flop. (Can you imagine how easy a Hold 'Em table would be if you were playing with 7 fish who saw every flop?)

If you plan to keep playing HORSE, I'd plan to learn O8.

Can't log in, but as I remember, there's no Omaha 8 in HORSE.

It's Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, Limit Razz, Limit 7 Stud, and Limit 7 Stud Hi/Lo.

As for the Omaha, it's not that bad.

It's probably my weakest game too - I'd like to play a few hands, but FT is still down.

I was playing it earlier on Absolute trying to breathe some life back into my cash account with a freeroll, but the # of chasers I had to deal with was ridiculous. I'd flop trips, and some idiot kept chasing his full house to the river. He, of course, got it.

If I do play for cash online again, it certainly won't be on Absolute.

The best thing you can do in a game you are not familiar with is play tight. In omaha 8/b I recommend only play hands with an A and two wheel cards 2, 3, 4 or 5 preferably suited. That way you have back up in case your low is counterfeited and sometimes you will make a straight. Play high only hands only if unraised and multiway. i.e. KKJ10 and if you miss the flop, fold.
Never play for half the pot. Therefore, play starting hands that can scoop the pot, AA23 is the best. AK23 is very good. A28J is garbage. KK72 is very bad despite the pair.
For the high, remember that the nuts are out there. If you have a straight, it's no good if there are three flush cards on the board.

In short, draw only to the nuts. (high and low)

My advice would to just play solid hands in omaha and never chase since most people are chasing it leaves alot of hands to beat you. This should help limit your losses during the omaha section.

If Omaha h/l is your worst game then try playing some lo buyin omaha h/l mtts or sngs, you will lose a little to start but once you improve, you will make up for it. Invest in a little more experience and it will improve your overall game. Dont try to improve an individual game, ie. omaha, razz, etc. , during your horse game cuz you dont have the time. Tackle them individually and you will be on your way. GL
