|
|
So I was sitting at my usual 1/2 razz game, when I decided to see what was goin on at the higher limits. To my surprise, I saw a 30/60 table going - very very unusual. I decided to open it up and keep an eye on it along with my own games. I open in the middle of this hand, and am in absolute awe as I see people with these boards continuing to call bets. I thought that 30/60 meant great players - I guess I was wrong. Check this out:

What is truly scary is that looking at what won, the guy with the trip 7s showing might have had a good read on the table. If his hole cards were lower than 7 and he bettered his hand on 7th street, he would have won.
I can't believe you could expect that you would win with 7-7-7-10 showing, but like I said the scary part is that he nearly did.

I've played with some of these guys before.
Yuvee is one to watch. He's an extremely loose player, but is quite good at figuring out where he is in the hand. In fact, he's been a real thorn in my side the last few sessions I've played. It seems that every time I make a seven on fifth street, he rivers a six. Needless to say he can't be bluffed too easily! |

| One word. "wow" I guess this just further proves that a bankroll doesnt neccessarily define a player's skill. |

| Razz is one game that no matter what level I play at, I don't see much change in skill. I have a tougher time beating the .25/.50 game than I do the $3/$6 game. Even the few times I played the $5/$10 game I found it to be fairly soft. |

| If I was playing at that table, I'd have square impressions all over my forehead from banging it into my keyboard repeatedly. As Jim Norton would say, AWFUL. |

I agree. I have played both 5/10 and 8/16 razz here, and the level of skill is just sad. |

| I've lost a lot of money to bad razz players when I value bet what I know is the best hand. It amazes me how people can chase to the river with a K and a Q showing. |

| Most people who play razz think its all luck. They will try to catch three perfect cards after 4th street. Although they get there sometimes, in the long run it will be more profitable to you. Ive seen more bad beats in razz than in any other game. You have to be mentally tough to be a good razzer. |

It pays off when someone makes something like an 8 on the river and you made a 7 or a 6 on 5th or 6th. That doesn't change the fact that it sucks when you get beat on 7th. It's like "hey can't you see that I have the best hand showing! there's no way you are ahead!"
Like all poker, people like to pour dead money in to the pot in hopes of hitting a perfect card. It's good in the long run for disciplined players but short term variance is a b*tch. |
