| He called flop with open end draw (jack) he hit on the turn, he value bet river. I'm new at this analyzing stuff, but they tell me to think range and his range seems to easily include many jack hands, it also explains the whole rest of the hand. |

I disagree. As played you can't fold the river for that bet. You're getting better than 3 to 1 and you have a set and your average 25NL player would also bet a Queen there as well as other random stuff if he is just really horrible. (which isn't that unlikely) |

+1.
I think plenty of people with a much wider range than Jx bet this turn after a check, and then bet the river after a turn check/call and a river check. A pair of queens are an obvious part of villain's range, since it is fairly clear hero doesn't have a straight, and his likely holding is a worse pair. I think villain's range also includes worse sets and some silly things like random PPs or 7x hands. |
