| I don't know about most players but when I load up some cash and am playing for awhile I tend to play cards whenever I have some spare time. Being a student that is a lot of spare time. In the beginning everything goes well, making some money, feeling as though the cards can never stop coming and that your play is exactly how you want to be. But over time, for a little while anyway, the playable hands begin to fade away and its more of a struggle to get into pots let alone win them. Although this is just a phase it can be a bit of a bummer and you might doubt yourself a bit. For anyone experiencing this I would like to recommend an article written by Nolan Dalla. It is titled The Poker Paradox and can be found here: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/archives/?a_id=12140&m_id=19 |

| Done that been there. Thanks for the cardplayer article. Have been playing mostly online for the last 2 1/2 years. Have had two really bad losing/cold card streaks. One lasted for about 5 months. The lastest, since the beginning of the year. It appears that I am finally coming out of that one. Was joking at one point of having pocket aces beat 5 out of 6 times. I love the game, am still ahead after all this time and just keep on playing. The winning/luck streaks have certainly helped out too. |

I am in a real cold card streak and understand this very well. I nearly just fold KKs when I get them (nearly!!) as I seem to get bad beat or just plain run into AAs. When the hand ends up in a coinflip , or even as a big fave , I am always losing and it always happens at the pivotal point in the contest (getting crippled or going out in 4th when my TTs loses to 88s).
I took a break and cleared all my money off my sites put it back in my bank and am just reading my books now and writing these posts. I know it is just a phase but if it goes on too long one tends to get gun shy and that is death in poker. A side benefit of this is that I can utilise my profits from cards rather than just letting my cash stagnate in online accounts interest free I might add! |

| I had been getting lot of bad cards lately, and then it all was all more than made up to me yesterday when I played in the Sunday 4:30 Katrina tourney, when I caught card after card after card in the last hour of the tourney. Funny how that all works out sometimes. |
