Hand 1, MP is 15/8/3(39). (At the time I had even fewer hands on him.)
------------------
HAND #1
------------------
Full Tilt Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
UTG: $208.45
MP: $112.55
CO: $71.15
Hero (BTN): $100
SB: $115.45
BB: $90.25
Pre-Flop: A Q dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG folds, MP raises to $3.50, CO folds, Hero raises to $12, 2 folds, MP calls $8.50
Flop: ($25.50) A 2 T (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero bets $15, MP raises to $30, Hero ???
Hand 2, BTN is 31/11/2.6(94). She's been open-raising from BTN around 40% of the time, though.
-----------------
HAND #2
------------------
Full Tilt Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
CO: $168.90
BTN: $41.50
Hero (SB): $100
BB: $106.50
UTG: $87.40
Pre-Flop: J A dealt to Hero (SB)
2 folds, BTN raises to $2, Hero raises to $9, BB folds, BTN calls $7
Flop: ($19) A 6 7 (2 Players)
Hero ???

Hand 1: I call PF if I'm not comfortable getting it in with TP postflop. Against a villain like this that will often be the case, so I'd tend to call until I had a reason to 3-bet. As played I probably end up calling the c/r and then calling any turn, like I would against most people. I puke a little in my mouth and curse myself for being an idiot while doing it though, which is why I call PF in the first place.
Hand 2: I like PF given villain's stats unless she's been folding to 3-bets a ton, in which case I'd prefer 3-betting a bit tighter for value and with speculative hands the rest of the time. After saying that I just noticed the stacks. Since villain is short I'd 3-bet a bit smaller unless I felt comfortable calling a shove. That way you lose less when shoved on and encourage calls from dominated hands while still ending up with a big enough pot to get it in when you hit.
Once I hit a dream flop like that I'm probably betting small to induce given the stacks. Villain has a bit over 30 left, so 12 or so seems fine. If called on the flop I might c/c the turn depending on which spots she's been aggro in postflop, but I think my default is to just put the rest in since the board is fairly drawy and the pot will be so big. |

Thanks Riddim. I did exactly what you suggested for both hands:
Hand #1 Villain bet turn and got it all in OTR, then flipped over AK.
Hand #2 Villain shoved after my $12 c-bet and flipped over 77.
What I mostly wanted to know was whether 3-betting in those positions was bad (Hand #1, unequivocal "yes"; Hand #2, I like your idea of 3-betting smaller, I don't do that enough in general), and how to deal with Hand #1. (Hand #2 I think played itself after the PF action.) |
