Sorry for the whine thread, but this is the place for bad beat stories.... Once again I'm WAY ahead, but lose on runner runner. Dude was a maniac, pushing with marginal crap. Knew I would catch him. I did, but of course a miracle saves him and busts me. When will this end? (I guess when my br is $0 ... lol)

| When people play funky hands, funky things happen. I recently started playing multiple tables of 10NL 6-max. The beats are terrible. |

| I know that's just the way it goes sometimes, but this has been happening far too frequently lately. I have been winning my share of the races, and getting my share of good cards. But, I have been an absolute magnet for idiots who make horrible plays yet get rewarded with a two, three or four outer that cripples or busts me. Tends to take the fun out of poker. Still, it's just a fifty buck br playing one and two buck sngs. Kinda dumb how pissed I get... |

You lost an 80/20. It doesn't matter how the cards fell. When the money went in, you were 80% to win the hand. Running straight cards is one of the possibilities to make up the 20% of chances that he wins.
Besides, in a blind-vs-blind battle, he probably figures you're just stealing and he's flipping. Considering his stack relative to yours, he's willing to take that "flip" even though in this case, it wasn't a flip. Hardly the worst play I've ever seen. |

| Perhaps, except that he was very reckless, raising and re-raising with nothing. He became chip leader with a similar long-shot win, something like A5 v AQ when he again went all in against the initial raiser with AQ. I guess I'm just tired of losing the 80/20s. |

Gawd.. u ppl and your precious statistics. This kind of retarded straight hitting is the 2nd most annoying thing in poker next to the four card flush. THAT is what the OP is venting about.
The guy made a stupid play after OP raised. He had no reason to do so being massive chip leader.. Just admit it and stop it with the 80/20 crud. |

Took a couple days off, but I continue to be punished for the correct play. I don't have any illusions about being a great player, but if I can't win with these hands, there is not much I can do. Perhaps I just don't understand how common this is. Does everyone get two or three of these every time they play?

Are you really shocked to find bad play in $1 and $2 TURBO SnGs?
Fast blinds + cheap cost = high variance bad plays |

I've considered that. Thing is, these plays often happen when the blinds are not in play yet. I guess I'll just jump up to the higher limits and see if I can find some good players.
