| Hey, fellas, got a buddy of mine that is cash poor, but always wants to play tournament poker. I keep telling him that for a cash poor position, it's better to play in a cash game. Who's right? Thanks a lot!! |

When you say cash poor, do you mean he does not have a lot of money?
If so, SNGs would be best in my opinion - He can start at the lowest level/buy in when he has scraped together a decent amount of cash to get a decent amount of games for his moneys worth. By playing tight and big hands, in 9 man SNG's he has a good chance of making the money fairly often and he can do this until his bank roll increaes. You also get a good return on your money - eg $6 SNG pays $30 for first place, which in turn boosts your bankroll by another 5 games.
I wouldnt recommend cash games as its not hard to lose all your stack (or a large chunk of your roll) in a few games, and some of the decesions can be a lot more complex, especially if you arn't willing to get all your money in at certain times and rebuy if you lose it. |
