| Nice finish there. That was an excellent experiment indeed. Let me know if you are turning it into a BAP. |

TY all that followed me in this experiment. It was indeed a success beyond what I was expecting. I was confident I could beat these games, but there is a few beats etc and against these poor players you have to not let that get to you and keep on going. I will admit that I got lucky a couple of times too. Overall I made a NET profit of $986.80 thanks to another nice 2nd place cash at the end there. This is adding the $14 I cashed in the token tourns and minus the outlay of $174. Shame I couldnt get it up over the $1000 mark but this is a VERY nice boost to my BR. I will update the OP with my conclusions now. Stew
EDIT: If I run a BAP, it will be along these lines, but I dont plan on running one as yet. |

Very nice! Congratulations!
I'm curious what your basic strategy is for the 45-man games. |

Sorry Binh, my chat wasnt blocked or anything. I remember you dropping by on one of them and I said hi. Otherwise I must of missed you. I do appologise and I appreciate the support.
nilgiri,
I will probably post my entire strategy for this experiment in the coming weeks so keep your eye out. But basically to start with, its the usually strategy of playing Super tight. You have to realise that you can come back from being shortstacked quite easily playing good shortstack poker. Theres enough donks in these games to double you up alot. With 20 people left I was last or 2nd last in ALOT of these games. If you maintain patience you can come back. Treat your chips like gold.
You also really have to watch and spot the DONKS. Theres alot of them and they often get a huge stack early. So when you get a hand like AK, even if its early on in the tourn just push and throw your whole stack in. You can bet your bottom dollar if someone is sitting on AQ or AJ they are going to call. Alot of people in these games cannot fold these hands, and suddenly uve got an early double up. If you run into KK or AA, thats what BR management is for. I think for me I just realised that 90% of these players I class as less advanced than me in these games so I take advantage of that. If theres a player your putting on a good hand and your sitting on a monster like KK or AA. Dont mess about with 3 or 4x bets. Throw in a 10x raise. Youll be surprised how much you get paid of being agressive with these hands. And same goes if you flop the nut str8 or whatever, check it and when they bet, insta all-in. You'll get a call alot of the time.
I guess it's basically being your usual TAG player but to a larger extreme. Then when you get to the final table I usually tighten until 6th place trying to take the odd steal. Then loosen up dramatically after. This might not seem to be the usual concencus when you'll often hear 'loosen up on the bubble'. Well you'll be surprised how often you'll cruise to 4th or 3th without doing alot when they all get all in happy haha. 1 double up and your in line for another 1st place. Hope this helps. Stew |

Good Job Beefstew. I'm gonna hijack this thread with my simmilar "experiment"
With a lesser BR to work with, I had no pre-set structure in my experiment. Over the last few weeks I went 6 for 9 in the $8 token 18 person SNGs. (should have been better, but was having a few "sprinkles" on at least 2 of these)
I spent my first one today on the same 45 person $24+$2 as you did and placed 3rd for $172. Thats cool , and I have 5 tokens left.
I'll now go back to the token tourneys and try to get a couple more before I make my 2nd run. Or maybe mix them both. Like I said, no structure here. I guess this is more of a brag post.
I'll update here with hopefully good news. |

| Just a quick question....does the 45 man strategy you laid out work in the lower buy in SNG's also? What changes would you make for lower buy in 45 man SNGs or are they just really that easy that the strategy will work most of the time? |
